#23 shwpuppet's amazing response about using crossbow in TF2 General Discussion
Ringo__Starra LARGE majority of medic players dont have a high enough iq to get a positive return on the crossbow, or for that matter to play medic in the first place

if ur too retarded for the crossbow (easiest projectile to learn in the game tbh) ur too retarded for the overdose````

#132 Fully Charged! Valve and Competitive TF2 - Episode 42 in Events
kirby
I apologize for not figuring out exactly how to word my concern, but that's the best I've got.

how do u even mean that as anything other than "what are the benefits of an INGAME MM service"?

like it could be half as functional, or even a third the functionality of TF2c and still be amazing just because its on the main menu. being on the main menu makes it better than all the other alternatives by default. The alternatives now have to be better than the default system to actually be worthwhile.

#128 Fully Charged! Valve and Competitive TF2 - Episode 42 in Events
kirbyI just worry that any form of official competitive matchmaking added to TF2 might end up being a glorified TF2Lobby/Center. So, I guess, if I had one question to ask the team (given they understand how counter-intuitive lobby/center became), it would be how they plan on making it that much better than the already existing alternatives.

that's a retarded question

really

like that is really bad

RainofLighttbh this kind of ruins my motivation because I always looked forward to an invite lan experience, and if all the invite label conveys now is being a bunch of onliners it becomes way less prestigious. I'll keep playing in the hopes that lpkane brings lan back but if it was for sure gone forever I'd quit ESEA.

the motivation to be good at tf2 should be higher now if valve is actually going to support tf2 dudeeeee

Demarinibuddhapestfirst, i love that #42 will be the most listened to Fully Charged episode ever :D

2nd, for those who still claim TF2 is dead, go back to LoL or whatever your current fad is. the facts show that TF2 is just as much played today as it was 3 years ago: http://steamcharts.com/app/440#All

with esports becoming mainstream, many tf2 players would love to get more into competitive. i believe competitive is one of the primary reason why cs:go and dota2 became so popular. this could boost the numbers of players to the highest in the history of the game.

#sostoked

Steam users have pretty much doubled over those 3 years though...it's like if you made the same salary 10 years from now it would actually be like making less because of inflation.

not really? You're implying that people are just coming to steam blank slate and ready to play any game. Most of that tripling is Eastern Asians playing Doter, and they werent going to play an FPS anyway.

#16 Valve has removed paid mods in Off Topic
pl3xAccording to the announcement (it has a section titled "Why we thought this was a good idea" lol) Valve wanted to make it so that modding could be a full time job. Huh.

which is actually

like

a 10/10 idea tbh

as it is, you can develop a shit load of applicable design and computer skills if you can trudge through learning SKSE and the like, monetizing those skills is COOL

its just removing the need to work in a studio or a company or whatev i guess?!?!?

2ceee"what in gods name"

do u not understand how ppl are going to be mad that a bunch of formerly free content is going to be locked behind a paywall?

the joke was you described exactly what DLC is which has existed for years

not my issue if you feel entitled to content youve spent 0 dollars on. nothings going to convince retards stuff they dont want to hear so you'll just have to see it for yourself in a year or so how disastrous this decision is

the critical difference being DLC is made by the developer and mods are made by the community

u cant call ppl retarded for disagreeing w/ u. esp when ur entire argument is that if u dont like smthn ur retarded :( it isnt like valve/beth want mods to be free, the end game here is every mod that can be monetized will be monetized, and nickle and diming a $60 game is so fucking stupid plsplsplsplsplsplspls dont support making every single mod in the world $1 or whatever there's so many better ways to do this

"what in gods name"

do u not understand how ppl are going to be mad that a bunch of formerly free content is going to be locked behind a paywall?

it'd be kind of different if skyrim was f2p but its a retail gme with shitloads of functionality now locked behind microtransactions, and that's not good at all. Looking forward, there's very little incentive for any mod worth making being free, and there's really no reason to buy bethesda games if ur not going to mod them (because they've all been shit since morrowind)

Getawhaletrade fairly and ethically to make money in the TF2 community.

no one who is rich in tf2 has been ethical

except like people who used real money but srsly

sweepstakes.tf is broken af right now tho apparently its grabbing unusuals and shit and not delivering properly so yeah dont use IT

its the exact same thing as paid cosmetics. unimaginitive retards will whine doom and gloom while content creators will make the big bucks now that they finally have a platform to release on

its p different from paid cosmetics since putting up a paywall for actual game content on a game u other wise own is still pretty new. There's also the fact that there's still literally no copy protection or way to authenticate the TES engine's plugins, so u can pirate these things pathetically easy. its dumb

also calling ppl who have different opinions retarded is very rude :(

honoratoFor those who havent seen it, Garry's (from Garrys Mod) posted his opinion on the matter, hes spot imo.

http://garry.tv/2015/04/24/paying-for-mods/

if the best u can say about paywalls is that you can just ignore them, there's no reason for them to exist

there needs to be something worth actually paying for, for this to be worthwhile. While the idea of the workshop is conducive to shit like this, with autoupdates and stuff, its nothing that NMM didn't already offer for free. If they had started shit like this and had tried to create community mod packs for like $2 or something maybe that'd be more positive who knows.

tbh everything about this is hilariously retarded. who tries to monetize a system of modding that has no sort of digital signing or content protection? im more offended by the shear laziness of the system moreso than the system itself

"Ideally this inspires to donate to the content creators but people will never do that. Shitty situation. "

valve removes donation links from workshop pages now apparently
