The old installer works fine. Just pick your steam name from the dropdown and install like normal. Then browse to the folder it installs to (Steam/steamapps/STEAMNAME/team fortress 2/tf/) and take the folders that it made (resources and scripts iirc) and move them into Steam/steamapps/common/team fortress 2/tf/custom/broeselhud/.
I hope replacing the font files with the old ones will restore the non-proportional numbers :D

Ducky Shine II has everything you want. Backlight can be turned off but it's cool :] it has a reactive setting that lights the keys that you press 8]
