#112 AG Supports CEVO in Expanded League in TF2 General Discussion
GrImpartialJust curious, why are you guys encouraging fees so much? I appreciate what Cevo is doing, I just don't understand why you want to force people to throw money at them. If you want to donate, feel free. I'll probably chip in a bit even if I don't play comp next season, I just don't think it should be forced down everyone's throats to pay league fees. Also, if Cevo makes any mistake, no matter how small, there will be people complaining that they had to pay for the season and that mistakes shouldn't happen.
Like I mentioned before (page 2) there could be an division open to everyone and free to play, and then a more advanced league fee division that has prizes.

Everybody takes it a little more seriously when they have some skin in the game. A larger prize pot will also encourage a higher level of competition. There is a shit ton of infrastructure improvements that have to be made that will take some capital.

My biggest fear is the first season going horribly and everybody jumping ship after that.

StPatrickCevo has historically been a pay to play league, they're probably only free now to entice teams to play. Also having users pay for the league is not the only means of creating a good prize pot.

but it would be cool if they could provide servers and pour some money into web development because the site is kinda bad right now (in addition to having a good prize pot)

$15 will still be only about half of what an open player currently plays in esea

#10 120hz Help in Hardware
redddr_insaneGreat! So get that cord and I should be good to go right? This is the monitor I use. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ That would work fine, correct?

This is my graphics card, no problems with that either?
you should be good to go. I'm using the m17x, so you might have the same problem frkn does, but it worked for me

does yours have optimus or do you have the gen before optimus?

#2 120hz Help in Hardware

the mini display port on the m14x passes through the intel gpu, I took a major fps loss using the mini display port on my laptop, even though it was still using the nvidia gpu. Ultimately I had to pick between 90-100 fps 1366x768 120Hz and 1920x1080 240+ fps 60Hz. My solution was to buy a desktop.

frknPlatinum wants incentive; how about this. We base the team the community sponsors to i52 off of the most recent CEVO season.

i should clarify i mean most recent before i52 not most recent now. rofl

MerchantfrknMerchantfrknwoo no more prize pot raises???
IIRC the prize pot is from league fees and all else (including this) is from premium.

it would be easy for them to make a business decision not to increase the prize pot even if league fee income icnreases. afaik there is no requirement for them to do otherwise.

Pretty shitty business decision that would piss people off, although yes it is ESEA. 350k is a big chunk of change for ESEA, but not that big.

They wouldn't really have to announce it like that though, prize pot this year is the same as last year I think (with the exception of tf2 adding the main division), presumably because fee revenue wasn't up but who does the math?

i have no idea how much cash esea is sitting on though so maybe 350k is nothing to them
