#7 Screen tearing on fullscreen in TF2 General Discussion
ckapfrkndo you have your fps capped? I noticed a lot less tearing when I set fps_max to 0.If you have a 60Hz monitor set it to like 121. It should stop tearing.

I have a 60 Hz and I used to have fps_max 121 and tearing was bad. When I changed it to fps_max 0 it mostly went away.

#49 ESEA Registration Closes Monday Night in TF2 General Discussion
cabooseSince this season has the same map pool as last season, is it safe to assume they're in the same order as well?

No, in fact it probably won't be.

#295 Esea Client Mining Bitcoins in Off Topic

Of course ESEA is responsible. That's why they are expected to (and supposedly are) replacing any damaged hardware, as well as giving all the money back (and more) to the prize pot and charity.

I would prefer the person responsible be fired too but I'm not holding my breath.

TronPaulSaberthey LOSE money on it but they do gain exposure for it, what company would continue spending money on something that doesn't give back as much as it takes in
and you're making the assumption that what happened was the fault of the entire company when it could easily have been the fault of only a few people
Why would ESEA keep doing TF2 if they were loosing money or value on it? That makes no sense.

Because even though they don't profit directly, they gain exposure which is worth $$.

duderI just don't get it. Apparently you're ok with being stolen from, as long as they give it back? Does that negate the fact you were stolen from and defrauded in the first place?

It's disconcerting you're all quick to talk shit about me for being mad yet you're all cool with this situation quietly going away. All you're saying is you're cool with ESEA doing whatever the fuck they want as long as they pay somebody some money if they get caught.

99.99999% of us weren't even affected. It happened over the off season and nobody runs the client to pug or anything.

What they did was fucked, but they are replacing broken graphics cards, donated the amount and matched it to cancer, AND added the amount to the prize pot. While I wouldn't mind if somebody goes to jail for this, I'm not going to not play esports because of it, especially when it had absolutely no effect on me.

SnazEDIT: If you incorporated two ladder systems, one paid and one free ladder, you would draw in funds during off season, as well as create a ladder system for more dedicated players. There would be more incentive for players to actually use the ladder system (rather than letting it go by the wayside during off season) and there could be a cash payout (or perhaps paid league fees) based on your teams performance in ladder system.)

I think having separate ladders would be more detrimental than beneficial. Having paid and non-paid in different ranking systems would just reduce the prestige of climbing the ranks. And I know I am not willing to pay to play during ESEA off seasons, and I imagine many feel the same. Dedication to tf2 does not equal willingness to pay.

#18 Video Games vs. Depression in Off Topic
ScholarJust gonna add, video game addiction can be really fucking bad. It can be just as bad as any other addiction. Spending 10+ hours a day playing games can ruin your life just as easy as coke. I learned the hard way.

fixed

also any addiction can be equally horrible for you psychologically, but coke still has a bunch of worse shit that comes with it (legal issues, death from overdose...).
