#23 throwing in Esports

Should TF2 have an option to forfeit during competitive? Maybe like all players on the forfeiting team have to click the Forfeit button. Not sure how you'd do it for ESEA, it'd probably require co-operation between them and Valve that would be a pipe dream, but let's imagine it's possible.

Would it be a bad/good idea and why? Discuss.

lavendergrant surrounds himself in an echo chamber of people who form their opinions around his simply based off the fact he's the best player in the game. they don't think for themselves and instead regurgitate how he feels simply because "he's the best so he can't be wrong!"

i think if he took some time to practice having a discussion or talking with other people in a respectful, equal footing manner, not surrounded by his mindless zombies, i think he could grow a lot as a person and become a much more respectable person than he already is

underrated post

HildrethB4nny cares more about winning than anything else in the world, who knew.

He has nothing except TF2

I don't mean that as an insult but it's essentially the truth

He also plays it up and exaggerates a bit with being angry or saying dramatic shit because the kids eat it up. He's admitted this in the past.

edit: forgot to add, his radar for when he's being trolled is basically non-existent

atidereI hate how I come back from 3ish years of no tf2 and I'm still treated like toxic 13 year old atidere. I get it I kinda made my rep as a toxic little shit and I don't disagree that I should've been disrespected like I was but like I'm 18 now and I'm completely different :x. Shits really annoying and I try and be nice to everyone now but some people are so toxic and it makes me now understand how annoying I used to be.

i'm sure you're a good dude and i'm sorry to hear you're having this hard time

but unfortunately there are consequences to being a toxic dickhead. it's one of those things where you don't realize there's a downside until it's too late.

maybe you can talk some sense into some kids with your cautionary tale? they'll probably listen since you're still fairly young

I have a package in the community mailbox here (Canada Post) and the lock is literally frozen shut. There is no exterior ice visible. I used lock de-icer all over it and nothing happened. It is frozen solid. I literally can't open my mailbox. I'm pissed.

#87 What got you in to competitive TF2? in TF2 General Discussion

I was part of the Lost Continents TF2 community for many years around 2008-2010. There were many early season Invite guys that were part of the community, like Orzo, slardel and others. We used to play in-house Highlander a lot, and I found it pretty fun. I just kinda thought Highlander was some made up thing that someone there invented, I didn't realize it was a whole competitive mode with a league and all that. With time, we started playing HL less and playing in-house sixes (of course).

Reddit used to hold an event called the Round Robin, which was an annual event for people to come and try competitive for the first time, get mentored by dudes who knew their shit i.e. hein, and get cast by real casters like Kip. To be honest I'm not sure how I found out about it, but I had been playing the game for like 5 years, and figured it would be fun to play on a team. After that I got asked by a member of the TrashedGamers community to join her Silver HL team and I played a couple seasons in UGC. Fun times for sure. I decided I was better at talking into a microphone than playing though, so the comp career didn't last long. All I wish in hindsight is that I had found out about comp and gotten into it sooner!

If you guys want to report these guys, I made it easier for you - just click report, click Harassment for the reason, and copy and paste:

This person posted a sexual video on this Steam profile, of a user who recently passed away: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197968377396/

Couldn't think of a better way to word it, but it gets the idea across. Hopefully with lots of reports they can take care of it.

crateaGetawhalei wonder if Steam could similarly close comments on a person's profile if they were contacted. and if they don't already do this, maybe this could be a nice catalyst for them to start doing that.
While having the comments public can attract sick people like these, I also think it's important that people who had stronger connections with the person can communicate in some form to cope with their loss. To some people, it's the only way they can reach that person now, sadly...

yes and this is something i considered as well. luckily for facebook, they have a report system for comments that works okay. maybe Steam could at least add that? given that a dead person can't delete the comments themselves.

paiCIn what condition is one's brain to actually think this kind of behavior is funny or how do things like this even cross some people's mind? smh...

young guys like this want to offend people as much as possible, so they find the most offensive things they can do or say

give it a few years and they'll grow up and have a super deep realization that they were really harmful pieces of shit, and it'll feel real bad

re: the issue.. i know facebook will "memorialize" a person's account when they pass away if you provide proof. i wonder if Steam could similarly close comments on a person's profile if they were contacted. and if they don't already do this, maybe this could be a nice catalyst for them to start doing that.
