zeSIMONMoments like these actually make me happy that TF2 isn't a huge, 100% serious esport that is ruled by money and big companies :)
We have the most talented, most creative and most ridiculous community there is, and that's a good thing :D
This is the first time TF2 has ever been at Dreamhack. This is supposed to be a huge opportunity for us to show our game, competitive 6v6, to Europe and the world; to people who may not know it exists, in advance of a coming boom in the game. Does it not cheapen or dilute the message of "We are an e-sport" to play a circlejerk map of Sideshow's face at the end of our event? Many people outside our community currently think TF2 is a joke or a cartoon game.
Would we be okay with doing this at the end of Insomnia LAN as well? At the end of ESEA LAN or future LAN events? I don't hate fun, I don't hate Sideshow or anybody involved in the map, I just disagree with the decision to place it at the end of such a fantastic competitive event. Why does it fit? Everybody knows TF2 is fun already - because everyone on Steam has it.
Fun shit like this is great for charity events or more casual events. Sure, for a charity event, do Trainsawlaser or dodgeball or randomizer or make Sideshow's nose out of spire. But I feel like keeping the serious events (competitive tournaments) serious (relatively speaking) is important.
