#43 ESEA Season 16 in News
PlatinumI dont believe scheduling will be all that much of an issue due to the fact you can use your own servers in cevo. Schedule esea games and then schedule cevo around those and you're guaranteed 4 play times a week instead of having to wait for a while to find scrims

while this may not seem like an issue for most experienced teams and players, this doesn't negate the huge cutback on scrim times for new teams who need the experience of scrims, demo reviews, etc.

again, ideally, the map list would be mirrored and teams could do both leagues.

#5 Con Gaming Deathmatch Server [EU] in TF2 General Discussion

seems kinda silly to have no sticky damage. a demo would use stickies in an in-game situation on badlands mid. it's akin to having no double jump for scout, no shotgun for soldier, etc. I think the tf.tv NA DM servers have it right with having 2 active stickies to encourage DM'ing and not totally useless spam.

#35 ESEA Season 16 in News
PlatinumEveryone on these forums clearly loves TF2. Don't limit yourself, get as much as you can take (esea, ugc, cevo)!

with CEVO and ESEA both being 2 matches a week (and ESEA [understandably] not giving CEVO their map list so they could mirror it), it's an unfortunate reality that, for the sake of being competitive, teams will have to pick one league. it's not very feasible that teams will be able to have the typical 5 day (sunday-thursday) scrim schedule and be at peak performance to play a total of 4 matches a week on 2 different maps. this would mean double headers on some nights, no scrims before a match, etc. -- again, not impossible, but just not very realistic. of course all of this is null and void if teams treat CEVO as an after-thought. that's just a bit more unlikely considering it is now pay to play.

albeit won by a very small vote margin, I think CEVO should have heeded the community's voice when it voted for 1 match a week. their justification of 2 matches a week due to the $15 league fee is understandable, though. however, there are 12 teams paid and readied in CEVO for preseason matches that begin tonight, and only 1 new roster (excluding "skalar" based on milehigh's post) in open for an ESEA season that begins in roughly two weeks.

I feel like a lot of teams are discussing their thinking behind closed doors and not really making a public move yet. a lot of people I've asked about their team's future plans are still unsure, or apply the oft-heard logic of "we'll play where the best competition is". this is all well and good, but the time to make a decision is here.

Modified files: econ/backpackpanel.res, clientscheme.res, disguisestatuspanel.res, freezepanel_basic.res, hudinspectpanel.res, hudplayerclass.res, hudplayerhealth.res, hudplayerhealth_numeric.res, scoreboard.res, spectator.res, spectatortournament.res, spectatortournament_4x3.res, spectatortournament_5x4.res, spectatortournament_16x9.res

how did you get rid of the [unknown] in the inspect panel?
also, how do I get "ping" back instead of "streak" in my scoreboard?

#152 CEVO S4 Registration Open in News
DaggerhookyDaggerblendtecCan we please vote for 2 matches per week guys so we don't have UGC style scheduling that results in semi-random seeds for playoffs and 90% rolls?
a handfull of teams are playing both cevo and esea and having 4 matches a week is quite a lot.
But you scrim how many times a week?

4 a week is still doable, it just means you wont have as many scrims and getting all 6 players 4 times a week can be difficult sometimes.

4 matches a week on 2 different maps when teams typically scrim 5 days a week (usually 1 or 2 before matches as well)?

if the map list is not mirrored, teams are more than likely going to have to pick one league.

LinYES I AGREE. I got my admin taken because I shit talked cinq's friend. The dude has mumble(and maybe channel) admin and doesn't do jackshit. Now whereas I'd be fine with that, being a dickhead and banning other admins in mumble because you didn't like how you were being treated back is just fucking dumb imo. And like clorg said, I was reminded several times that I was a bad admin because I didn't ban people enough even though I never had a reason to. I tried staying active and fixing broken bots and banning people if they deserved it but for not being able to that + shit talking cinq's friend, I got my admin removed.

And this reminds me of another funny incident...
There was a certain player that I felt needed to be banned for 2-3 days. When I called for an admin, it was cinq. He didn't know it was me since I changed my alias a while back but as soon as he did learn it was me, he promptly kicked me from the channel and said something along the lines of
"because I cant trust a guy like Lin"
also the guy was never banned.

Edit: Maybe I'm missing some other groundbreaking reason for why I got banned but this is all I took away from that incident.

schmang, you were removed as admin because all you did was petition for your friends to be unbanned, be rude to cinq's real life friend in mumble, and give rcon out to your friends.

nice try though

CorsaI'm not 100% positive that Deep got banned because he was "too good at market gardening" --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL4Dw6UrJc8 but it seems as though, like people are saying, they tend to ban something/someone once something/someone is "too hard to counter." (like insom and many other people stated):
insomI find it funny when snipers who can't hit shots are allowed to perma snipe even though they are being useless, but if someone hits their shots it's an instant perma ban.
Anyways, that's a cool video. :P

way to think for yourself, champ. hive mind mentality at its finest.

I would love for somebody to show me proof that we've banned anyone (within my admin tenure) simply because they were "too good at sniping" or doing anything "too hard to counter", and not because they were clearly offclassing excessively or simply trolling the pug.

#46 CEVO Community Meeting #2 in TF2 General Discussion
blazedunno if this was already discussed, but it would probably be a good idea if cevo copied esea's map schedule or at least had a few of them that would sync up for the first season. I think the main reason most people don't play in 2 or more leagues is because they cant find the time to practice different maps and have 4+ matches a week. (is cevo doing 2 matches a week?)

(re-quoting from trog)

i was a bit disappointed that this post wasn't touched on. it is sort of a loaded question, but i was hoping to find the information of: will CEVO try to mirror ESEA's map list for this first real season?

reason being that, if there were hypothetically 1 match a week for CEVO this season, teams who are weary about moving away from what is known/comfortable (ESEA) would probably have a bit more of an interest (and time) to participate in both leagues.

btw if you're going to ban somethihg that ruins pugs ban the direct hit, that thing is actually useless

I agree our white list should mirror ESEA's; it is a bit wonky. will discuss it. (have you seen technasty with the direct hit???)

chunkeyyyCan the admins add the people they ban and give us an explanation please? I looked at my IRC and all I saw was that I was banned, and the explanation was "Bye." Please don't be lazy. You're playing with my emotions b!!!

why, why did you ban sniper from every server???

don't know anything about that ban evasion business. I would try to talk to cinq/speedy about that.

reddi also got banned for asking why sniper was removed

untrue. we were talking in mumble about sniper being disabled/off classing in general, and you decided to interrupt me countless times with a barrage of questions in an aggressive manner. even after I tried to reason with you in IRC, you said you'd prefer to keep interrupting me and "just go play in pug.na". to top it off, you tried to ban evade immediately after.

reimu-i remember when went sniper to mid with 1 minute left on the clock and KoolB threatened to ban me.

haha
yeah

believe it or not, we do have rules.

regardless, the disabling of sniper was a trial. it is quite interesting how much dialogue (some positive, some negative) this class restriction made in just 24 hours. we are making our "official" switch to quakenet on february 14th and will roll out a new rule set that all players will be expected to follow.

feel free to PM me if you have any questions/suggestions.

does anyone have any books they could recommend similar to "the bell jar" (sylvia plath), "a heartbreaking work of staggering genius" (dave eggers), etc.? kind of "emotional non-fiction" with really strong writing (not sure what genre these fall in) type of books?

#60 iT Dead; b4nny to Join clockwork in News
renxzenWhy doesn't lansky just replace b4nny and rr? They already have the winning roster indust/lansky/shrugger/xalox + tagg and idk, someone that could replace b4nny in dm and gamesense like (fuck me) ruwin.
Isn't the whole point of playing with b4nny, this? Lansky having enough balls to grown up away from b4nny, and lead a team on his own. Become the MANsky.
I think there's a lot of people that hate to see how good invite players stop playing for reasons like these. Anyone wants to see lansky/shrugger/xalox still playing? I can't be the only one.

to be fair, it appears that lansky was the only one who really wanted to step away. shrug/xalox/indust haven't made any statements (to my knowledge) that they were done with the game, wanted to take a season off, etc.

either way, i just really hope with these disintegration/reformations, some new competition emerges to give us a strong season of invite and not just the same 2 powerhouses.

also, lol @ people trying to snub rr. i thought he had a good season and strong lan performance; i also appreciated the fact he consistently streamed scrims throughout the season. not many invite players (plat/squid are the only exceptions that come to mind) are willing to do that on a regular basis, it appears.
