#20 Killemdeader LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)
towelI've only played one power pug with this guy. He's a bad pocket, but without a doubt a great roamer. I suggest picking him up, even if he's playing a different class. He's very nice.

I dunno if that's too fair, with my pocketing. I mean, I guess I play fairly aggressively (arguably too aggressive at some points), and expect my med to keep with me and tell me if we're not in a position to push healthwise, which can make it seem like I'm bad if the med isn't on the same page/isn't keeping up (which is what was happening). I play best as pocket when I am either with an experienced med or a med who I've played with before, since I expect a lot and often call "push" and assume the med knows what I mean by it. Thanks for the complements though :)

#12 Expanding Open in TF2 General Discussion
AvastIn reality most first season Open teams are not expecting to be High Open or win Open at all, or at least that shouldn't be the expectation. Really teams that join as a first season will play that season, place probably mid to low open. Then next season when the stronger teams have moved on and they have improved, should theoretically place higher and do better.

Competitive 6's is a learning process and not something where you can play one season of UGC and expect to win Open.

I understand, but players, as well as teams, are hesitant to make the commitment of time and money to ESEA when they know that a large portion of their matches won't be close. People play to have fun, and when they start losing badly, it's really easy for teams to fall apart. Unless there is a viable way to seed teams before the season starts, ESEA isn't going to attract the UGC crowd.

JOEthis doesn't really make sense, there is nothing stopping lower level teams from playing in open. after they start losing, they will be scheduled against other teams that have been losing. thats how esea scheduling works.

Paying to get rolled for 1/3 of a season before getting decent matchups is, surprisingly, not attractive to newer teams.

#12 Looking to ring in Recruitment (looking for team)

Play in PUG.NA, tell them you're new, and those will almost certainly help you improve. However, most of your med skills will be judged in the way you work with a team, and can call/manage on one, so I'd recommend trying to do calling yourself, regardless of the skill of players around you, and see what works and what doesn't. If you can, getting a team will help more than anything.

crespiIndeed he is a cool cat. As I said in his last looking thread, I recommend addressing him as kill-ME-deader, it's actually how you pronounce his alias.

Truly is interested in improving and is reliable. Give him a chance he'll make you proud.

Crespi; I know you really love that nickname, but I want you to know that every new person that adds me seems to call me kill-me-deader in mumble now. Goddamn it.

Also, thanks everyone for the kind words! I'm still sort of testing the waters, so if anyone is still really in need of a med (or a low scout), let me know.

Jstn7477Coding support for 2v2 would be up to Lange to consider. I'm just the freelance mapper for MGE V8.

***

Anyway, here's a question I should ask for the continuation of map development, since nobody seems to have made me aware of any real problems besides spawns or arena settings and not physical map problems or exploits.

Should I:
a)Remove Duel, copy Turris and set one Turris arena to Endif and the other to Ammomod.
b)Keep Duel and the single Turris arena, but try to do something different with Duel like more spawns, gates or different settings, and change Turris to different settings.
c)Something else (please explain in detail). Do not ask me to remove any existing arenas (besides possibly changing the newest three) as I have already explained why in a previous post on this thread. :)

Keep in mind that my map cannot please everyone. Some players are bound to hate <insert arena name here> for whatever reason, and I doubt I can come up with a map where 100% of players like 100% of the arenas. Remember to provide detailed, constructive reasoning as to why something should be changed or done better so that I can make changes that a majority of players will agree with. Bear with me because admittedly, I don't really play MGE or competitively even (I'm literally out of my house from like 7:30 AM to 9-10PM during the week) and I am working on this on some weekends if I can, which is why I'm here on these forums for feedback from MGE/competitive players. My goal is to improve MGE for everyone, not just on my servers. I've enjoyed learning about mapping with the MGE V8 project. :)

I'd consult with some people about adjusting turris and duel. They're cool maps, I think they can still be polished though, before it's finalized and everyone outcries every little change.

grapethe way i see it there's no such thing as high/mid/low/low-low open

there are either teams that are around ready for IM and everyone else is just trying to get better, there's no point in making distinctions

Eh. I mean, it helps distinguish between teams expecting to make playoffs, thinking they can make playoffs, and that know they probably won't make it, but are trying to improve.

#1 Killemdeader LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hey so, I'd be down to play this season if anyone needs a scout/med/soldier. I don't have a ton of ESEA experience (only a few matches as backup), but I pug a lot and have a few seasons of UGC under my belt on a few classes, including roamer and med. I'd judge myself as about low-low/mid, up to mid open on med (just guessing, not sure how accurate this estimate is), but I am receptive to criticism, striving to improve, and like to contribute with coms and strategy. I'd like a team that's chill and really wants to stick out the season, even if it gets rough.

I'm on the west coast, I'm available every weekday but 6-9 thursday nights, sundays are a maybe. Can't do saturdays at all though.

Really, anything you get will be pretty good, just buy one of the more proven ones and you'll be happy, and make sure it fits in your case and has the right socket.

If you're looking to stream, I would recommend getting an i7 rather than an i5. It'll be smoother, and you won't have those problems where you have to choose between consistent and smooth fps, and streaming. i5's will do what you want otherwise, and is more than enough for daily use, but for streaming and rendering you really want an i7.

#12 Quiting smoking and video games in TF2 General Discussion
reillyI know this isn't going to be a popular opinion on a video game forum, but in general your mood will be better the less you use electronics, including video games. Don't use games as a form of escapism. I don't know if you exercise but that will help.

Try talking walks outside, and DON'T pull out your phone to check it, don't listen to music, etc.

Try meditating ~15 minutes a day (I'd recommend this to anyone, not just you, but it's more long term).

All that will help a lot with mood swings, and attention. I've used these to help me get over addictions, but I've never smoked, so take it with a grain of salt I suppose.

Walks and meditation work better for some than others. Not everyone enjoys or gets much out of them. If you want to do something alone or private, walks or meditation or exercise or really anything other than electronics will help. If you want to interact with people, try getting out, doing something with your wife, take up errands, anything.

#13 Need help getting a new CPU in Hardware
Odissiusbonker450Maybe this review can help:

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/53054-intel-i7-3770k-ivy-bridge-cpu-review-19.html

A little out dated but it help to compare CPUs in TF2.
The GPU is a GTX 460.

Unfortunately a 460 is not enough for TF2 anymore.

That's not true, I get over 120 frames in action on any map, running 2 monitors, with one at 120hz. And my cpu is a 1156 i5, and a gtx 460 gpu.
