#97 so are y'all gonna be voting for joe biden now in Off Topic
SpuklassyQisnodbki wish there was a way i could vote for neither biden or trump and still make any sort of difference
Little known fact, If a third party gets over 5 percent of the popular vote, they’re eligible for public funding in the next election cycle.
If you want to break the two party system the first step is to have a third party reach this threshold and theyll be able to gain more funding the next election cycle, which means they'll have a larger reach and over time become a major faction. While for the most part, with a few exceptions(Teddy Roosevelt and Bull Moose) we have had two major factions, but these factions have changed over time.
A consequence of voting 3rd party; if that party, let’s say leans more left, is that it will split the democrat votes even more and possibly ensure longer republican terms. I think the real problem is the FPTP-model of the elections. But sure you can advocate for a third party candidate, but it will very likely guarantee at least 3 terms of the candidate you absolutely do not want.
except US presidents can only serve 2 terms

Change candidate to party in that case, the point still stands.

If you and a significant amount of others are unhappy with your party, why would you continue to align yourself with them? In this case, your party isn't aligned by ideology but through opposition so its already essentially broken. Teddy Roosevelt broke up the Republican vote and allowed Woodrow Wilson to win, but the party was able to realign itself under Harding.

My original point wasn’t that voting 3rd party wouldn’t result in any change but rather asking if the risk of having more terms with a republican president is a consequence you are willing to risk enduring. And like it or not, having Biden in office is a much bigger opportunity for pushing progressive policies than you would ever get with Trump, so saying that the only thing that aligns them is opposition is ludicrous. Anyone who’s a #BernieOrBust on this forum doesn’t seem to realize how much Bernie has already pulled the Democrats left in the primary and deciding to sit out the election because you haven’t come to terms with the fact that the democratic electorate isn’t nearly has progressive as they are.

Again, my original point was that while voting 3rd party is a viable option if you seek change, you still have to be ready to endure more years of right-wing policies as a price for the change you wish to see.

alba(stay away from the kebab truck if it's there again)

What are you talking about? The kebab truck was godlike if only a bit pricey but not by alot. I'd recommend the kebab truck to anyone who's willing to spend the extra money.

#14 klassy leaves ascent? in TF2 General Discussion

Jokes aside, other things in my life have become more important to me lately and as a result TF2 has sadly become less important. The decision to leave was pretty hard to make but I want to assure everyone that there were no internal problems in the team that caused me to leave. It was all just a matter of me either quitting today or 2 months from now. My motivations for quitting were always the same.

Going forward, admins will be handing out warnings and bans for inappropriate binds. Please check your binds and remove any inappropriate (racial, homophobic, transphobic, etc) binds. If you aren't sure if a bind is inappropriate, then don't use it. For example a quote by someone containing an offensive slur (censored or not) is not acceptable.
