The reigning champions return to the 34th season of ETF2L to defend their well-earned title.
Ascent.EU’s current roster has proven themselves to be head and shoulders above the rest of the current competition in Europe. After a 3rd place finish at Insomnia late last year (while under the banner of Faint Gaming), Ascent.EU’s roster was looking stronger than ever. With Se7en deciding to not play in Season 33, it only seemed natural that Ascent.EU would inherit the top spot, and they lived up to the hype; only dropping a single map throughout the entire season.

With another season laying ahead of them, Ascent.EU have made one roster change to set themselves up for success. Waving goodbye to their former medical man seeds, they’ve decided to bring in former Se7en player Domo. The change was foreshadowed a little bit when Domo subbed in for Ascent.EU during Week 7 of Season 34. While he was known formally for his time playing Demo in Premiership, Domo is looking to solidify himself as a multi-class player, and possibly even be one of the rare players to have won Premiership playing multiple classes.
We reached out to Papi of Ascent.EU to ask about the reasoning behind the roster change:
TEAMFORTRESS.TV: What was the build-up or reasoning for switching seeds out for Domo?
Papi: Seeds wanted to play with Rivs so he left the team, he was a beast so it is sad to see him go. But then we heard about Domo searching for a new team; we trialed him once and instantly fell in love with the English dude.
With a prize of LAN tickets recently being announced by ETF2L, there’s even more pressure on teams to perform well coming up to Copenhagen Games, but Papi feels confident about the competition this season:
TEAMFORTRESS.TV: Are you feeling confident you'll be able to replicate last season's results?
Papi: Yeehaw decided to take the season off, so it should be much easier than last season.
With many opportunities for success coming up in the new decade, Papi feels confident with his team, and with good reason looking at their recent results.
Papi: shoutout to my team, they are the bestest !!
Ascent.EU have made the climb, but now they’ll need to defend their peak with their new roster.
