#4 getting better in TF2 General Discussion

It speeds things up, and you can get a leg up and a head start on the people who came before you. There's a reason we have coaches, teacher, professors, text books and mentors in life. To learn from someone(s) who already put in the work.

When we hire someone at work we don't set them loose, we give them a mentor. We invest in mentoring enough that we even have a billable code to bill time for mentoring a new engineer. We don't have time to wait around for them to try to learn everything on their own, we have clients waiting.

#11 getting a new computer, specs alright? in Hardware

I would stick with Nvidia myself, I get screwed every time I try to go back to ATI.

And I would suggest investing in a monitor that's 120Hz, either CRT or LCD or LED. If the latter 2, then look for a very quick response time as well.

#42 Relationship help? in Off Topic

School debt is good debt, low interest and low payments and you'll be able to afford it with a good job. It also doesn't hurt your credit like consumer debt does.

I know it sounds like there are a ton of jobs up here in Canada but it's no joke living here. You also need an education for any of the good jobs. It's seriously cold in the winter, like bad enough that I'd like to move down south.

#36 Relationship help? in Off Topic

1. Instant Messaging can turn almost anything into an argument, you can't read tone. And in a way you were both wrong. He's right that you should be able to learn how to google shit on the internet, but he's wrong for the way he went about it. Guys are bad for this, and it's a common trait you'll find in a lot of men. We're insensitive because we're less sensitive. He should be more wary that because you have trouble learning that it's a touchy subject for you. He'll learn when he matures.

2. You are WAY too young to get married, and by the looks of those logs, so is he. But if you have to get married then there is 1 key to staying married. And that's you both have to want to make it work. You'll be able to have arguments and debates without it tearing apart the relationship as long as you both know you still want to be together after the spat. You both need to communicate that you want to make it work for the long haul, and if he doesn't you need to know NOW.

#41 not motivated in life in Off Topic

ya pretty much, this is the only time you'll get away with running around going balls out. You should be going to at least 1 or 2 parties a week and hanging out with friends or going out almost every night for the next few years.

#27 not motivated in life in Off Topic

I've never had real life long "goals" and doubt I ever will. I've just had a series of obstacles in front of me that I tore through. My life has mainly been about having fun. So I'm proof that life long goals aren't required, just do what you enjoy because you only get this chance to live but once and then there is nothing...

So I personally lived it up, I did and tried everything I saw or could think of and by the time I was 26-27 I was ready to settle down and start a family. Now I have a dream house, awesome family (wife and 2 kids) of my own and life is pretty darn good. Sure, life has too much overhead but as long as you get your responsibilities taken care of things shouldn't be too hard.

19? And you like drum and bass? Party time :)

I was just getting heavily into raving at that age, that was a spectacular couple of years. I suggest you party like it's 1999 because you'll be old soon :(

And honestly, there is no point to life other than to just enjoy it.

#26 30 60 120hz in TF2 General Discussion
wafflebeasier on the eyes and way smoother
dumpasses forgot to put -freq 120 in launch properties

I don't have that option myself, does it help? I don't lock my fps so I get anywhere from 250-1000fps most of the time, maybe dips to 150 in mid fights, but what would that launch option do?

don't listen to anyone that doesn't own a 120Hz, I honestly don't understand how they even have an opinion on the matter.

yes you will notice it, and yes it is worth it. If you can already push 120fps with your rig then going to 120Hz is the biggest upgrade you can do. There's really no reason to play at sub 120Hz anymore.

#8 Wireless adapter? in Hardware

facebook will destroy your connection anytime someone is on it on your shared internet.

I would suggest having 2 internet connections into the apartment and you just /pay for your own. You can put them all on cable and have your own FIOS or DSL.

#1 Mous over thread popup to also show last post by: in Site Discussion

I can never tell if a thread has been updated since the last time I browsed the front page. On some other forums I can mouse over to see who the last poster was and when it was posted. Would be a great feature here too I believe.

Thanks!
