Ah hold on, before anyone else reply's, I think I may have in fact been the victim to human error.

thinkAfter you enter the binds into console you can check to see if the game remembers your bind by typing "bind [" or "bind ]". If the console returns the correct information then your bind should work.
Hello,
I did what you suggested, and here's the result.
bind <key> [command] : attach a command to a key
] bind [ r_drawviewmodel 0
]
bind <key> [command] : attach a command to a key
] bind [
]
"[" is not bound
So, what does it mean when console is not remembering my bind? Could this problem be related to something else entirely?
Thanks.
#2
Yes, I have tried/tested numerous times. I Didn't think of adding them to my auto exec, I'll give it a try though.
Thanks
Hello,
EDIT:
-Figured it out, thanks for your help, problem solved.-
For some reason, that I am unaware of, I cannot bind commands to keys using the developers console. I had done it once before, but after re installing my TF2, it doesn't seem to work.
I had bound r_drawviewmodel 1 and r_drawviewmodel 0, to "[" and "]" keys.
Each time I enter the bind command into console, there is no result.
Can anyone provide to me some possible insight as to what the problem might be?
-Thanks
I know valve has already spamed the market with Dota 2 keys, but in the case you don't already have one, add me and I'll gift you. First 6 people.
Hello,
I'm sure most of you know the little ordeal with dx8 and crashing in regards to TF2. Well, I had the same problem, and patiently waited for valve to address and fix the issue. Just recently they released and update that supposedly fixed a lot of people problems, or so I've heard.
Just like everyone else, I downloaded the update and expected my TF2 to be back to normal. Unfortunately, the crashing still persist, and I'm absolutely dumbfounded as to what the problem could be. Forgive me for being so long winded, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
So hear are a few details of whats been going on.
1)About 1 month ago my Tf2 started crashing erratically.
2)Heard it was a dx8 related issue, so I waited just like everyone else.
3)During the down time I tried this.
This temp fix is working for me atm.
1. Add -d3d9ex in your launch options
2. Go to your steam folder > steamapps > (yourusername) > team fortress 2 > h2l.exe
3. Now with h2l.exe right click the application file and go to properties.
4. Go to the compatibility tab and tick disable visual themes and disable desktop composition.
5. Now in your autoexec.cfg file add the command mat_disable_d3d9ex 1
4) This did nothing.
5) valve releases update.
6) Back tracked and deleted everything I did in #3.
7)Downloaded update, crashing problem is still as persistent as it was before.
One last thing. I am able to play maps like tr_rocket_shooting when I launch them from console. Whenever I play on a server, tf2 crashes. Also, every time Tf2 crashes, I hear a sound supposedly coming from my hard drive. Something like this - "click* click* Click* eep*". Once this happens, I have to manually shut of my computer because everything freezes. Ok, Sorry again for the wall of text, I really didn't know how to elaborate on this issue without it.
Edit: How would one simply reset Tf2 to "Factory default" to say the least?
OK, Sorry, before doing any tinkering around myself, I had assumed binding in Dota 2 was the same as Team Fortress, which was console dependent. I see now you have control of binds from the controls menu. I was a little confused at what you all were getting at, but now I understand. Thanks for the help.
Thanks.
Just to clarify though.
Would it look like this.
[Bind "6" slot 1]
Or like this.
[Bind Slot 1 "6"]
Sorry if I'm missing the point.
Hi,
I Just recently started playing Dota 2 and wish to configure key binds just like Tf2. Specifically the 6 slot inventory. It has become quite a mundane task using inventory items, especially in the midst of team fights. If anyone could educate me on the proper way to bind my inventory to the desired keys, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
-Lambda
Edit: I know this is not Team fortress related, but I've seen other post regarding other games so I thought it wouldn't be a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wait for valve to address the issue.
As far as their record goes with time relevant issues,
Don't hold your breath though.
Edit:
I've been following this thread on the steam forums regarding the issue. Don't worry your not the only one.

Anyone have any more ideas regarding this problem? I've been crashing after 4 or 5 mins every time I try and start TF2. It then proceeds to freeze up my entire computer so I have to hold the power button and restart. Any more info regarding this would be great thanks.
