gpit is bad for the finals because one sniper pick, one spy pick or suicide can decide an entire round. you can play the better tf2 and still be forced to lose, good for spectators but not good for deciding which is the better team.
that's the point. you have to play FLAWLESSLY on gpit to begin with, now add in the fact that you have the best of every class trying to gay your medic and you need perfect positioning, comms, and predictions in order to have a solid defense time.
it's a brutally unforgiving map, where one mistake costs you 1 round which is half (or 1/3) of the match. it's entertaining as fuck to watch the best players in the world try to out "perfect" one another.
also, a sniper/spy/suicide play will cost a round on other maps as well.
