they do this for dota and i believe csgo as well. sometimes the voip program changes (ventrilo, teamspeak, raidcall, etc). be careful out there.
would love to go to a socal lan, not much here outside of the sacramento lanfest (which is full now).
WithADanceNumberI'm pretty sure they use obs combined with some web apps that Lange and some other dude made.
i made the stuff tftv uses (dashner made the transition videos though i believe). it's based on the original toth-overlay stuff but heavily modified to suit our purposes. obs + tftv-overlay works well for us because it's easy to teach streamers to use and it's fast as fuck.
#1: don't pay any money for streaming programs, they are all a ripoff unless you are working with a huge production that needs super great production value. obs will fit all your needs and if you want to get fancy with production, you can get nodecg. it's a bit like tftv-overlay but meant for public use. bluee and i both developed the pre/postgame overlay you saw at gxl (which may be made open source in the future). nodecg is a fantastic and powerful piece of software.
competitive tf2 is an organized way of playing the game we know and love, team fortress 2. comp tf2 doesn't have to be played for thousands of dollars or even have a prize pool involved; it is as simple as two teams who love the game fighting it out for fun and glory.
the main way of playing competitive tf2 is 6v6: on each team of 6 people, there are 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, 1 demo, and 1 medic. soldiers and scouts sometimes offclass (switch to sniper/spy/engineer/heavy/etc) depending on what the team needs. this format is proven to be, for the most part, extremely balanced and loved by the competitive community. there is also highlander (9s) which consists of teams of one of each class. watch a bit of each format and try to find out which one you would find most fun. highlander is considered more easy to get into if you are coming straight from public servers (pubs), while 6s is considered less "crowded" and more of a esport-oriented format.
you can easily get into team fortress 2's competitive scene through a number of outlets. there is the newbie mix event that we hold usually on the weekends, which allows you to play with experienced players and learn the competitive format and maps. watch the events sidebar here on teamfortresstv to learn more about those. there is united gaming clans (UGC) which hosts a tf2 league in both 6s and highlander with skill ranging from new players to experienced ones. to find a team for that, go to ugcleague.com's forums and search their recruitment section, or better yet, find some of your friends who fucking love tf2 and want to bring their play to a new level. you even get a free metal for participating in the league at the end of each season!
if you want to see more of each format, feel free to check out teamfortresstv on twitch to watch how 6v6 is played, and extvesports for highlander.
i hope this helps you and welcome to competitive tf2.
NicholausIf I could get a ride, that would be great. If not, does anyone have any idea if Uber is good or not?
it's 50/50 imo. i've used a service called lyft (kind of like uber) and i had a good experience with it, but my dad recently tried uber and said he wouldn't do it again. so ymmv i guess.
go to your settings and disable the recruitment sections
Tino_Are monitors still good for carry on? Because isnt there a new thing for electronics that they have to be proven to work and have then turned on before entering security? Not sure if thats something that needs to be taken into account
that's only if you're entering the us from a foreign country i believe.
http://www.theverge.com/2014/9/30/6868695/microsoft-windows-10-announced-official
they finally realized windows 7 users don't want to switch to 8 lol.
"We want all these Windows 7 users to have the sentiment that yesterday they were driving a first-generation Prius, and now with Windows 10 it's like a Tesla."
i will definitely tune in, sorry for unfairly ripping on this game. gonna try to watch a good chunk of it if i get the time. :D
SoapDannSo TF2 can't get support their own creators because it hasn't been in the competitive scene for long enough?
This makes no sense.
Dude, the point is that the CS MODS established THEIR OWN competitive scenes. You are missing a major cause and effect if you think that the size of counter strike's competitive nature is because valve added a crappy matchmaking system to CS GO.
that is exactly why csgo is as big as it is (as well as the skins), pretty much everyone i know wouldnt bother with the game if it didnt have a matchmaking system.
rowrowWith how big a corporation Valve is, you'd think there's like a special section of Half-Life 3 engineers working in a secret Valve basement so that no one else working for valve knows or leaks it.
i remember reading in an article about free to play (the movie) that valve is like super serious about leaks after the 2004 hl2 one. they don't outsource anything anymore, they even have their own sound studio so there's no risk of anything leaking.
it completely wouldnt surprise me if they had a secret level devoted to half life 3 and other projects of that secrecy.
holy shit thanks for posting this, this is like exactly what i need right now.
it's out, update your clients.
