i know if i use r_lod -1 this happens and r_lod 0 makes it go away, but i want to keep it at -1 for better quality

the latest drivers didnt even installed on the laptop i got the latest from the laptop manufacturer site

i need to use dx8 on an old laptop with an nvidia geforce 740m
i tried yesterday but the lights were bugging out from what i´ve read due to the lack of support of dx8 in the latest drivers
i know i have to use older drivers but is there a recommended version that helps my cause ?
