scrimshawit's a lil melodramatic. "maybe she's been up for three nights holding the hand of her husband who's dying of bone cancer" "maybe their therapist says they need a giant suv b/c they've been in a horrible car crash" yeah maybe. but i'm pretty sure i can't spend all of my time coming up with soap opera scenarios for every annoying thing in my life
That's not really the point he's trying to make though. The point is when you view yourself as something apart from the rest of humanity and make assumptions about other people based on the little information you have about them, you often make life more miserable for them and yourself and perpetuate some kind of ignorance/hate/bigotry/uneducatedness that an educated individual shouldn't. You should use your education to consider the other person, not yourself. That's what I got out of it anyway.
