#106 esa lan thanks thread in TF2 General Discussion

Finally got back home after a rather painful 26 hour trip. I always intend to post in these threads but it's hard to find the words of gratitude sometimes, because I am a man of few words. However, this time I feel like I really need to write something as this was a very special event for me personally.

Thanks to Esports Arena and its staff for hosting, adminning and producing this event! Nobody would have been there without you!

I'd like to thank the Se7en squad and its entourage for showing and making me not the only European player at this LAN. I really enjoyed hanging out with you guys, drinking, eating breakfast and whatnot. I apologise for smashing Raymon's headset during the bootcamp!

Thanks to my team: saam, bear, bo4r, shiki and marmaloo. Despite having almost no chemistry, no practice and it being my roamer debut, we still made it and took the gold medal in the open tournament.

Thanks to AMS, alle and Bren for being good roommates. Thanks for booking ubers when I couldn't get my uber app working. The trip to Hollywood with AMS and alle was really fun, even though I got really badly chafed from the shoes I bought and I couldn't walk at the end.

Thank you Dashner and Uberchain for taking the time to come here to produce their documentary. I am really looking forward to see the results. Thanks for all the moments we shared, it was really enjoyable to hang with you guys and I will miss you guys the most! Hopefully we will meet again some day! Also thanks to Uberchain for taking my new Twitter profile picture, and giving me chopsticks when I didn't have anything to eat my noodles with.

Thank you Jasbutts for helping me take care of myself when I was more than slightly inebriated, and thanks for booking the uber back to the airport when I was the only one left at the motel.

Thanks to all the people I hanged out with during LAN, and everyone who came up to me and had a chat with me. You know who you are. The TF2 community has a lot of lovely people and will always have a special place in my heart. I've been to a lot of events and I feel like the community around the events is awesome every single time, and I always miss a ton of people after leaving.

Please lets keep making these events happen! They are always amazing experiences for almost everyone involved, and to people who haven't been to LAN yet, please take the opportunity to go to one if it shows up. I highly recommend them.

Finally, thanks Dreamboat for the GIANT hug.

P.S. Words can not really describe how grateful I am to have attended this LAN, but this is a solid attempt.

#196 Global Whitelist Lists Post-Meeting in TF2 General Discussion

I was thoroughly disappointed by this meeting. Lack of structure, unproportional representation, little meaningful discussion and most importantly a lack of formality. This meeting has so many flaws that it should be viewed as illegitimate and the results should be ignored. Do it correctly next time.

#25 anxiety help in Off Topic
phobiaim just doing what my therapist told me to do

Your therapist's advice is to take xanax for the rest of your life and not deal with your problems? That sounds like the opposite of therapy.

phobiago to a doctor and get meds. They will prescribe you xanax or something over the counter. it helps. also, try to distract yourself from thinking about whatever is making you anxious by thinking aobut the things around you

Literally the opposite of what you should be doing. Xanax is a temporary solution, and running away from your thoughts (which you can't really do anyway) reinforces the anxiety surrounding the unwelcome thoughts.

#58 What's the logic behind unbanning unlocks in TF2 General Discussion

It's sad that needles have little to no use, but banning the crossbow would be a mistake as it would lower the skill ceiling of medic and also make him more boring to play.

#76 Esports Arena Rewind announced in News
Maxi-nick_If I bring my own 144hz monitor will I be able to safely leave it somewhere on the venue while I'm away or will I have to lug it around with me. Also if I'm playing in the open tournament will I have a PC reserved for the whole lan or just when I'm playing. Sorry if the answers are obvious, this'll be my first lan.
no one steals monitors, at least not at iseries

insomnia has security though, not sure about ESA

#221 Philosophical Question About Whitelists/Blacklists in TF2 General Discussion
wtzHiipFireDaggerHiipFirebleghfarecsupport ESEAtfw still no EU ESEAhttps://play.esea.net/index.php?s=league&d=standings&division_id=2173Is it a possibility ESEA might revisit EU?why do we need ESEA?
this game is going nowhere, etf2l is perfectly fine and they have everything we need
  • regular seasons
  • easy to communicate with admins
  • good whitelist(blacklist?) and maps
  • simple ui
  • free
I'm sure there are more points but I can't think of any right now.
etf2l have stood the test of time. They've outlasted wire play,ESEA, esl, esa and many more so why should the eu player base need ESEA? etf2l was and is the stable rock in eutf2

european community did a big mistake by choosing etf2l over ESL, tf2 wasn't going anywhere with etf2l and that has been proven by now.
