Ill eventually get a PS4 too but I don't doubt that this game would come out on PC relatively soon after it came out on consoles. The consoles are basically standardized PCs
asian so he's a natural at video games
Paragonpotprobably only did it cause he knows it's getting refunded
I can't tell if you're sarcastic or just retarded.
vhalin is a good dude that wants to see esea stay alive, that's it.
vhalin is a jerk chair incident 2011 never forget
probably only did it cause he knows it's getting refunded
etf2l is free; you're comparing apples and oranges here
I know but $15 is not a lot of money. I'm not sure if ETF2L provides servers, but assuming not, $15 is only about the cost of a server per month which every other team would have to buy. ESEA is still relatively expensive compared to CEVO wjile offering little to no extra value.
no one is immune to DDoS attacks and any claim to the contrary is just an empty promise
It could have been the attacker's intention to have us play off client for whatever reason but it seems telling that the first private server we tried wasn't affected one time in the 2.5-3 hours that we played on it. Even if other servers are not completely immune, they can be harder to attack, no?
that's completely untrue -- as far as I know, there are no restrictions of the sort
we choose to have the finals on the ESEA orange stream because ESEA takes care of the front-paging and also compensates the streamers/casters very well
Alright, my bad for assuming. Still, it takes publicity away from TF.TV's twitch and brings it to an otherwise dormant channel which seems counterproductive to me which is why I didn't assume it was your choice.
marmadukeGRYLLSpotBudsquad was going to play in IM if it weren't for ESEA's moveup rules. It would be silly to assume it was the only reason but it is one of the big reasons.
cevo and esea's moveup rules are almost identical. the only reason teams are just "getting in" to main this season because it's the first season. in cevo you are allowed to refuse a moveup and play in the same division again after winning it.
The difference is that CEVO seems to (so far) be willing to change rules to better accommodate us. It also seems that Lange has A LOT of say when it comes to how CEVO TF2 is run. Contrast that with ESEA which is extremely rigid (the debacle with pure's team comes to mind) and shows no signs of changing its rigidity. Moreover Killing has basically no say about what goes on in ESEA TF2 besides which teams get into Invite. Pipher's already stated that he'll move teams up based on merit and I believe he has said that entry tournaments ETF2L style are possible.
Whoever sees ESEA with these perspectives is pretty ignorant.
You can't call someone's view ignorant and then go on spouting incorrect information for 5 minutes.
I have never experienced poor customer service.
That's a good sample size. Have you ever needed Killing/Kalkin to do anything for you? I know multiple people that have had one or more admins tell them to essentially "deal with it"
Refunds are non-existent even for legitimate reasons.
St. Patrick is still banned.
I have never played on a laggy server.
You either live in Chicago/Dallas or have been incredibly lucky. Most people I have played with have had issues with ping and lag outs. One of my matches had to change servers because the server was so awful
Client was fucked up for 1 teammate, 1 time last season.
You're either trolling me or have the worst memory of anyone I have encountered.
Open finals have been delayed by a day+ for 2 seasons straight
Your own teammate couldn't play a match because of client
IM finals were played off client because of client not being updated (CEVO client doesn't need to update every time TF2 is updated)
I know it was an anomaly but after the two week delay at the start of the season there was no compensation from ESEA for people who paid for premium right before their scheduled match time.
Move-up rules don't cause sandbagging.
Budsquad was going to play in IM if it weren't for ESEA's moveup rules. It would be silly to assume it was the only reason but it is one of the big reasons.
Esea-O costs about 50 more dollars for the entire team than Cevo(not including the free premium for this season)
Again, wtf? $21 for premium + $10 for the entry fee x 6 = 186 vs $15 x 6 which is only 90
Why would TF.TV be allowed to steal viewers and ad revenue from ESEA stream?
Priority to the game that actually makes ESEA money is completely understandable.
That's not relevant to the point of my post which was about all the ways ESEA's hampering TF2's growth
Player's perspective:
- Poor customer service
- Inflexibility
- Laggy Servers
- Very limited amount of servers available
- Often has a non-functional client
- Terrible move-up rules that usually cause major sandbagging
- Expensive
Viewer's Perspective:
- Massive delays for online games due to non-functional client, lack of DDOS protection (Every ESEA server we tried for Open finals got DDoS'd but the first private server we used never went down or lagged.)
- TF.TV twitch isn't allowed to cast LAN
- Apathy towards TF2 even during their LAN stream
I'm fairly certain ETF2L has always had more players than ESEA because all most comp TF2 players want is a cheap league to have fun in with their friends and try to win along the way.
i think esea restricts tf2 from growing if anything
could esea just do invite and have a $4000 or whatever prize pool made up from the $60 league fees + crowdfunding?
