Most if not all of the cameramen already stream in 720p and 60 fps. Not worth the time and resources to rerecord just to up the video quality to 1080p.

UGC Forums are the place where people talk about HL because it's always been like that. UGC is the only league in NA that runs it so it makes sense. Also the UGC forums are the major platform for the admins to do all sorts of community interaction. Things like gathering general feedback, allstar voting, map discussion, possible changes and implementations for future seasons, the list goes on. So it'd be pretty self-centered to expect everyone to just up and move all or even most discussions to tf.tv without having some serious discussions with UGC. Personally I'm not even sure it would be possible, but I did try steering some traffic to tf.tv by doing platinum predictions all season because tf.tv is a really nice platform for creating and distributing tf2 content. But even so I would wager that the majority of the UGC player base (a lot of low level players) pays little attention to tf.tv except for maybe to watch some of the HL streams.
I guess the real question is what kind of HL discussions would people want to have here?
On the one hand it would be cool. On the other hand it might devolve into mustardoverlord and june arguing non-stop in real time. But it would probably be a good idea mostly.
I came expecting a stultus story. I was so wrong.. come back stultus :(
There are 364 days in a year that could be used to talk about gay rights. Day of Silence is only one and not many people actually stay silent the whole day (usually just until school ends or whatever). It's a form of protest. The whole point of the Day of Silence is to bring attention to the fact that a lot of people (mostly kids) don't have a voice within their communities, schools, families, etc. because stigma and prejudice keep them fearful and silent. It's a demonstration designed to elicit empathy and understanding for what these people go through. Not that many people here are interested in empathy or understanding anyway, but it is what is.
This is where I would normally argue about how I don't like the word faggot and don't really think it should be used as much as it is, but what's the point. Clearly I'm just a faggot who should shut up the fuck up and deal with my obvious emotional issues.
I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but to say that people shouldn't be getting upset over "just words" is rather obtuse. I used to get a lot more upset at people using the word faggot, but I've found that the more time that passes between now and high school, the less it hurts. I can't deny or forget though, that for several years of my life that word was shouted it at me in the hallways, as I was being pushed around, out of cars as I was walking home, etc. And it's not just my pain I remember but the pain of everyone around me that suffered the same treatment. Even in TF2 people call me a faggot, I guess at least now it's done behind my back for the most part. And they do the same to people like m4risa and other LGBT. This is not ok.
Now I don't lose my shit when people say faggot, but I let them know that for me that word represents and can trigger a lot of pain and depression. And they generally stop using the word because friend's and most decent people are respectful of each other. To the other LGBT who say they aren't offended, that's great, but people shouldn't take that as meaning they speak for all of us on the matter. So I don't know, use the word or don't. I'm not going to go on a huge crusade just to satisfy my own feelings, but people should understand that to some of us that word really does cause people to feel pain, discomfort, and low self-esteem (this is applicable to other words like rape, nigger, etc.). And you might not know about it because not everyone is brave enough to speak up about it. That's the whole point of this day.

While there is a general resentment and distaste of UGC, just outright stating that they would get hundreds of sign ups and the entirety of gold and platinum would switch is HIGHLY optimistic. Truth is you or I have no idea how popular a CEVO HL league would be. They should start with something small like a tournament and then if that's a success they could maybe roll it up into something bigger.
I guess my point is that even if lots of people don't particularly like UGC, replacing it isn't something that would be easy to do. So many factors to consider like medals, pay-to-play, etc. I just don't want people to get the idea that if a competitor to UGC suddenly existed that people would just automatically flock to it by the hundreds.
Might have better luck here: http://www.ugcleague.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15
