you can usually ask your community/city if there's any preserved areas for graffiti
before you start doing graffiti you can decide if you want to do graffiti art or tagging, most art comes with a sprayer/sprayer group tag

if you don't know anything about graffiti at all there's a bunch of youtube tutorials and books, thousands of graffiti fonts (easy and hard), font shading, health protection (important if you want to do it a lot or in confined space like subways)

starting out you generally want to practise stuff with paper and pencil

if you want to go illegal do it at night, get bicycles, go to subways, bridges, train tracks, abandoned buildings (dont spray houses, its a big taboo). watch out who you're involving into the whole spraying thing or they might bust your ass
