#116 S14 LAN Discussion! in TF2 General Discussion
KanecoPlatinum really pulled that play out of his ass, thats what I call thinking outside the box.

Now see that, that was interesting, just forget the first 50 mins of boring qf's exchanges, this is what robin wanted exactly.

My thoughts exactly. We're actually seeing the meta evolve. It was a massive stalemate because teams were only embracing what they knew, standard 6v6 with Quickfix. We saw them learn that the Heavy outright counters it. With the heavy, something new needed to be done to break through. Plat thought of it, the Conc (an item that was buffed right along with the QF) with its speed and defense boost mulched through the heavy defense, its defense boost with the quickfix healing made the final point possible.

Honestly, I think its fucking AWESOME. I hate to hear Slin and Blank on the main stream talking about banning QF because one half was 0-0. These are new items on the biggest best players, these are growing pains and we're seeing new things come from it.

Tech

Pretty fucking nerdy but to me theres nothing more fun then building a PC from scratch, going part by part and fine tuning until you have a nice, well running machine. If I was rich I could just buy sick PC parts all the time and give away the finished PCs to my friends or whatever. I just love puttin' the fucks together.

#27 Good bands? in Off Topic

I listen to mostly prog rock/metal these days, so.
Fairly clean vocals, except with Opeth, which is mixed.

#106 Powerjack update -> pyro viable in 6v6? in TF2 General Discussion
2sy_morphiendAlso, if "why robin walker personally doesn't watch competitive tf2" is a legitimate reason to change the meta-game because it's apparently to recondite for the average viewer, who honestly gives a shit?

I never said it was a legitimate reason. I was simply correcting him. Robin never said Valve wasn't going to support 6s because of stale meta, he said he personally didn't enjoy watching it because that was his opinion.

MunchRobin Walker didn't create team fortress by himself, and he barely has anything to do with it today. To think he's still some great mastermind behind everything Team Fortress is ridiculously stupid.

No, he didn't create it alone, but he did enough for long enough to be employed by Valve, which last I checked wasn't exactly an easy thing to do. Also, he is apparently still involved enough in TF2 to meet up with Sal and eXtine to talk about it. To say any of us know how involved any one Valve employee is at any given project is simply false. Not only that, but Valve is famous for its flat ecosystem, and employees going from one project to another, or multiples at once at their own whim. I don't "know" if Robin is incredibly involved in TF2 right now, but I can assume he is at least a little by seeing him meeting with Sal and eXtine when, if he wasn't involved at all, he likely wouldn't be there.

#103 Powerjack update -> pyro viable in 6v6? in TF2 General Discussion

You're missing an important detail. Rather, you're changing one. Swap "the reason why 6s doesn't get support from Valve" with "the reason Robin Walker doesn't personally enjoy watching 6s" and you'll have something closer to what he actually said. HL doesn't get any support either, what little it has is because HL is more accessible, which is a point not even you in all your rage could argue.

Also, please be less mad.

#100 Powerjack update -> pyro viable in 6v6? in TF2 General Discussion

Kind of off topic but I just wanted to post in this thread again to point something out

2sy_morphiendI don't think anyone that has seriously played the game for any real amount of time was complaining about a stale meta. Robin Walker talked out of his ass and UGC set itself on fire because for some reason they put absolute faith in a guy that has probably watched less competitive tf2 in his life than many of them do in a night.

I see so much of this it seriously makes me laugh and question the "great knowledge" of the general tf.tv consensus. If you or anyone honestly, HONESTLY think the guy who thought up, created, and maintained this game since 1996, who was involved in all aspects of the games tiniest details, the majority of which none of us even know, and who works for a company renowned for their top quality products and industry leading standards, is somehow absolutely clueless about the competitive aspect of of the game he created and maintained for 17 years, you are silly.

JUST SAYIN

EDIT: removed some unnecessary semi-kinda-insults.

They didn't seem to have any problem with two teams from the other side of the world winning the whole thing.

I kinda wish there was a teamfortress.tv text shoutout in it, to be honest. A lot of people will see Comp TF2 for the first time from this (thanks in part to things like day9s tweet) but without a tf.tv link they don't have anywhere to really go with it.
