#113 III in LAN Discussion
ComangliaAssuming nothing terrible happens cu@

Might actually get to see one of the Oceans =D

-edit-

Having never been to a LAN were I needed to rent a PC&Monitor I have several questions to ask.

  1. What kind of PCs and Monitors would I expect to be able to rent?
  2. What kind of desk space am I looking at. I'm sure I can't fit my 3ft wide QCK XXL but will I have plenty of space for a QCK Heavy?
  3. How much configuration "needs" to be done to the rental PCs. Will games/programs at the event already be pre-installed? Will they be set to "High Performance" mode? Will I have the ability to change Nvidia Control Panel settings if it's a Nvidia GPU? Will I have local admin privileges?
  4. What kind of bandwidth is available if I have to download stuff?

Comanglia- I am so excited to meet you! The venue really isn't that far from the beach, I highly recommend it.

So for this LAN the PC and monitor are provided to you- you don't have to rent or (hopefully) set up anything but your own peripherals. This also means that you don't have a dedicated/assigned space, however I'm told there will actually be enough PCs this year. The money comes in when you pay for a team pass to enter the tournament- when the group stages are over Will (the organizer) is working something out so that teams can use pcs after they get knocked out, so the best way to ensure access to a pc is to sign up for the tournament! They plan to provide lan servers for people to have fun on for the Saturday and Sunday when traditionally the playoff bracket is happening.

As to the other questions- I've not visited this venue and am unfamiliar with their equipment, but we are planning to host a Q&A at some point, so keep an eye out for that. These are great questions that may serve to better prepare the venue for what your needs (or hopes) are.

Seltzerwait why isnt it in Santa Ana again?

Esports Arena are no longer involved, and their venue was in Santa Ana. We're incredibly lucky that Thunder Gaming agreed to take us in.

BilbertIs there a recommended hotel like for the previous Rewinds?

Only the dates and location are released at this time. The rest of the info will come in an official post once the details have been hammered out, it just made sense to get the dates out and public as soon as possible.

Shoutout to Alba for putting up with me. (im sorry)

Shoutouts to my ladies lux tweaky and fribs, truly the baddest bitches that always make lan a special treat.

Shoutout to Plunk i can’t even, you’re an experience.

Shoutout to essentials and the hosty casty boys who i think worked 46463 hour days, in front and behind camera.

Shoutout to CeeGee, the happiest man at lan.

Shoutout to CeeJaey, the chillest father figure at lan.

Shoutout to Thaigrr, who legit has the largest bottom I have ever seen.

Shoutout to Juno for giving up his bed so i could get 3 hours sleep before my train (and for the tshirt with a pic of stick figures doin’ it)

Shoutout to drunkcake, always a joy.

Safety should always be taken seriously. Santa Ana was also not the safest area and whomever mentioned thunder is in compton... It is actually quite near. With this lan or any lan its always adviseable not to travel alone to and from the venue. That said there is time for those organizing the event to work on ways to minimize risk and keep everyone safe.

For clarity, because there seems a bit of confusion, Episode III is not affiliated with esports arena, but the event should be seen as the natural successor to rewind, and i hope thunder is our home for years to come.

More information including lodging, tournament specs, fundraising etc will be released by either the organizer, or matcherino themselves as things develop. The most important thing is that there are dates, and we can all start planning!
