ComangliaAssuming nothing terrible happens cu@
Might actually get to see one of the Oceans =D
-edit-
Having never been to a LAN were I needed to rent a PC&Monitor I have several questions to ask.
- What kind of PCs and Monitors would I expect to be able to rent?
- What kind of desk space am I looking at. I'm sure I can't fit my 3ft wide QCK XXL but will I have plenty of space for a QCK Heavy?
- How much configuration "needs" to be done to the rental PCs. Will games/programs at the event already be pre-installed? Will they be set to "High Performance" mode? Will I have the ability to change Nvidia Control Panel settings if it's a Nvidia GPU? Will I have local admin privileges?
- What kind of bandwidth is available if I have to download stuff?
Comanglia- I am so excited to meet you! The venue really isn't that far from the beach, I highly recommend it.
So for this LAN the PC and monitor are provided to you- you don't have to rent or (hopefully) set up anything but your own peripherals. This also means that you don't have a dedicated/assigned space, however I'm told there will actually be enough PCs this year. The money comes in when you pay for a team pass to enter the tournament- when the group stages are over Will (the organizer) is working something out so that teams can use pcs after they get knocked out, so the best way to ensure access to a pc is to sign up for the tournament! They plan to provide lan servers for people to have fun on for the Saturday and Sunday when traditionally the playoff bracket is happening.
As to the other questions- I've not visited this venue and am unfamiliar with their equipment, but we are planning to host a Q&A at some point, so keep an eye out for that. These are great questions that may serve to better prepare the venue for what your needs (or hopes) are.
