#90 If TF2 comes to ESL - What would you like to see? in TF2 General Discussion

What is ESL doing better than ETF2L that will encourage people to play ESL? (I get that you're not going to schedule stuff at the same time as them, but people aren't going to play cups and officials left, right and center.)

When ETF2L runs a cup, due to it being on an established platform and run by people that know the scene, they're pretty good at ensuring that, for the most part, people are in the division that they should be in. The anti cheat team is very good and they don't require you to run the game through a client, which may still be plug and play but its still a mandatory program that people have to download that they wouldn't have to elsewhere.

The only thing I see that you're offering is the chance for more cups and expansion in the future, which other orgs have offered before, but they also ran their cups with money. It still didn't take off because the cups were such a mess to play in for different skill levels and the only teams that would compete were the ones likely to win anything.

Also, ETF2L don't restrict people from playing from any country, provided they use EU servers and play with EU times unless their opponent agrees otherwise.

#26 I want to highlight the issues TF2 IS facing in TF2 General Discussion

100% shitpost, nice work though.

The soldier double jump when overhealed and triple jump under 50hp is great.

#13 hud improvements idea in TF2 General Discussion

Something like tf_hud_minmode 2 that centers the ammo and health text so that a custom HUD isn't completely essential for some players.

A command to make damage numbers a static HUD element only.

klassyT0mDifferent fonts. The ones used in the default hud are fucking awful. The cartoony fonts used in the default hud feel fit to the art style of the game which in my opinion is quite charming.

Different fonts could be available as an alternate option in the default HUD tho

DwapkingVita-saw is situationally better than ubersaw now.

Get swings and live --> ubersaw
Get swings and die --> vita-saw

-10 heath is unnecessary though.

Get swings and the round doesn't end --> vita-saw

#14 Share some reddit gems from balance post in TF2 General Discussion

As an Engi main, I seriously think I'm going to stop playing until VALVe reworks the Your Eternal Reward. YER was already a bit annoying to fight, as spies didn't have to deal with my Sentry before targeting me, and could basically allow a free dead engi and sentry for what is often a facestab thanks to australian internet. But of course the spy has to get a stab first, which does require skill and patience on the Spy's behalf.
New design though? Spies will disguise in spawn, visit the resupply locker, and just stab, apply a sapper, and get killed by my team. This is going to be a straight upgrade on stock for spies who are playing near the resupply cabinet (blue team on first point).

LsRainbowsYou can't really counter an ambassador spy with positioning in most cases. He can just move invisibly away from your chosen positions. A sniper is completely different since the sniper can only be in certain places and therefore you can plan around sight lines.

In a controlled environment at the level where spies reliably hit those shots, you'll know the spots that spies will go to and you'll have a rough idea of where the spy is. Its the same concept as not peaking a sniper sightline.

Also, by uncontrolled environment i meant something that wasn't entirely competitive like a pub or a lobby, In a pub its pretty easy to kill things as sniper from a stupid position.

I can understand why you wouldn't want the spy to be able to kill most things in 0.6 seconds just by having line of sight on them, but if this happens in a controlled environment, the spy is being rewarded for his skill and it is countered by proper positioning. In an uncontrolled environment, the sniper can do the same thing but worse.

Dead ringer only desperately needs the speed boost removed, whilst being able to spam it with ammo packs is annoying, there is some degree of planning and skill involved to do it. Make it require more skill by removing the speed boost, rather than giving spies a get out of jail free card.

#88 Sigafoo and RGL.gg presents - Uncle Dane vs Stabby in TF2 General Discussion
unfScrambledA: "No."
B: "You have no argument"
A: "It's bad."
B: "You still have no argument"

C: "B you have no argument, how can you accuse A of not having an argument, you also use logical fallacies"
B: "It's right here, and I don't"
C: "No you don't have an argument"

Care to explain how this applies to the situation? Unless you're just annoyed at me portraying myself as correct in an argument.

springrollsi never understand why being representative of pubs is in any way shape or form a good thing

pubs are like the least competitive thing of all time (how many people actually play the objective until the timer's about to run out) and have some of the worst maps of all time (dustbowl?? 2fort??) along with terrible team composition (multiple spies/snipers/engineers)

how would this be a pro for anything that's attempting to be a competitive format lol

any competitive format will be, and should be, infinitely closer to 6's (and hl) than it will be to pubs

There are two maps that are both very popular for both public and competitive play (highlander), badwater and upward. This format works for both of them.

Warning this is my opinion: You can make the whole "lol 5 snipers" joke or whatever. The fact of the matter is that you can play payload maps in very much the same way as you would in a pub in highlander for the most part. Maybe after learning a few better positions from better players or whatever.

I would say that the 7s playstyle is more representative of highlander than it is pubs, and I feel that the flexibility of the classes makes it more appealing for casual play than highlander.

Spriteanyone with half a brain thinks sigafoo's 7v7 is retarded even if it's not a "threat" (wtf does that even mean lmao)

A lot of people have been complaining that 7s will take player numbers from 6s. Please inform yourself before sharing your opinion.
