As far as viewership goes the stream started with 1400 and ended with 1200. The content was our fault but it could have been presented a little better, and the shit at the end was just a joke.
enigmaseanbudJustin went in to the mumble(which admittedly was probably a bad call), but I don't blame him for it because we're pretty consistently shit on by casters because people don't like Brad/Justin for personal reasons.probably?
there were mistakes all around on both sides, but come on...
You're right I will edit that probably out. It was not a smart idea. I just wanted to give some people a little background on why he might have done it. This has been building up all season.
The Charity:
I started planning this like a month ago. There were a lot of people involved; and a lot of donating, time, and work that had already been done before "this" happened. I thought it could be a fun way to spend a weekend giving to kids while playing tf2 with buds and hyping up the LAN. The support has been tremendous from everyone I've messaged. A lot of people involved in last night's drama are the main people I'm looking forward to helping with casting/playing/promoting the event. This changes nothing. It's one night of tf2 invite drama bullshit and please do not let this influence your opinion of what I'm doing for the charity, regardless of what your final stance is on what my team did tonight. I am still super hyped about this and I think it will be a huge event considering how big it is already and I still have 2 months to prepare.
A team for the community:
Lange, Brad, and myself are/were 3 of the most popular streamers in the community.
No one here will argue against what Lange has done to help the community. Brad has made enemies by playing in invite for a long, long time. But he was always very active with mentoring and doing newbie mixes and workshops. Before streaming demo reviews daily were a thing he was one of the most helpful mentors in tf2. You can look at CommFortress threads or Steam Forum threads if you wanna dig up info on that. If you wanna hear someone's opinions about brad from someone that likes him: I think he's a really smart player/person. I always learn things when I talk to him, and he funny and personable. As for me, I had streamed almost every second of tf2 I played until the moment we lost to Xensity. After that we had a month break, a roster issue, a doggles thread, and all sorts of other bullshit. It really sucked a lot of energy out of me to stream "for the community." I streamed every scrim/match for 2 seasons on the ducks and it got me two pretty rough seasons. It's not entirely about "strats", but people just get to knowing too much about your team and your team improves slower if everything discussed and talked about is aired publicly because punches are pulled instead of being open with criticism. STILL, I have streamed at least 1 night of scrims during every single map this season until badlands week, which became a must-win to make the LAN. There were nights where 2 or 3 of us streamed our scrims. We streamed as much/more than any other team this season. I don't think bp/mix streamed much of anything until lan spots were clinched, so please stop attacking us for not streaming. It's nothing new and I still stream so it's not even something you can argue. In addition to all this, I've done map review sessions
including each member of my team for the first 5 weeks of the season, and stopped
because the last 3 maps were fairly well known and I shifted my time to the Charity stream.
My thoughts on the caster/player relationships:
I don't care if cbear doesn't get along with Justin or Brad or whoever, but it was
literally like a weekly thing hearing updates from him or someone else about the
malicious motives of Fully Torqued on Fully Charged, during casts, etc. We were
never given a chance to defend ourselves on air, and a lot of what is said is
"speculation" about our motives. The viewers form the entirety of their opinions of our team based on what casters say. DJC/Cbear being so close and friendly with a lot of the invite teams is good because it makes them knowledgeable about the games beforehand which makes for better casts. BUT, the personal info and speculation that comes out based on the attitudes they have towards certain people does not EVER need to be aired publicly. I'm sure TobiWan doesnt get along with every dota player but I don't see him calling anyone out during casts.
Me and MY team:
I see a lot of people saying "Seanbud is cool but the rest of his team are dicks" or whatever along those lines. There is 1 me. Real life me, Streamer me, Fully Torqued me. They're all still just me. I am committed to this team and I have fun playing with this team, and I want the team to succeed. Again, I think most people form their opinions about individuals and teams based on what they hear during casts, which is unfair. Qualifying a statement about how much you hate my team by saying "I like seanbud, but..." does nothing for me because I am not going to side with anyone against my team.
To address some of the other speculation:
I will just say in general people took off running with a lot of dumb ideas about what happened without ever actually asking us what our perspective was. I was told by numerous people to not respond and we agreed as a team to let it blow over
"Hiding Strats": It's badlands(what strats?), and we had just played a "legit" game against Xen that was a must win so what else would we have to hide?
"Wanted lower seed to play bp": The goal at the start of this season was to make LAN with friends. Lange and I had never been to LAN and we have been on successful teams with brad in IM and enjoyed tf2 with Brad. We didn't think we were going to be a TOP TOP team or go undefeated, but we wanted to make the LAN. Last night we finally did after making it more stressful than it should have been by losing to vector. We could care less about the seed. bp, mix, and chess are all good teams.
"Protesting the stream": The only thing we were protesting was that we were very upset about the ESEA penalty ruling and didn't like that the teams that got chosen for MOTW were subject to penalties. 99% of the time it probably wouldn't be an issue, but here is why we had a problem with it:
Week 1: Don't Trip moved the actual MOTW vs bp back a week because blaze was out of town or something. We were told we were going to be casted thursday night and on Wednesday Zbryan finds out his grandfather passed away and had to travel out of state for the funeral on thursday. Rather than rescheduling(like we could have), we played with Moose, who we had never scrimmed with and lost. It was a shaky start to the season and resulted in Lange leaving and a bunch of "drama" about our team.
Week 2: Our match vs Don't Trip is scheduled to be casted and Whaz forgets to pay his fees on time or fucks up the payment, whatever, that's another story, and we have to reschedule and change servers. We had no idea there was no stv available for that cast and cbear messaged me afterwards saying it was the most frustrated nights he's ever had. This is the week that prompted the Illuminati meeting and the fines being implemented. We felt like we had been accomodating towards the cast week 1 and that we shouldn't have to suffer potential penalties because of a stupid troll that we had nothing to do with.
None of us ever had a problem being casted, and I think all but 2 of our matches were on ESEA/TFTV.
First I'll get straight to the point about last night's game vs Chess Club, then I'll try and explain the inner workings of our team throughout this season.
We knew going into the doubleheader that it was going to be the ESEA MOTW. djc approached me sunday asking if we could schedule for the thursday slot. I said ok. Then I realize Monday oh fuck Thursday is that one day. We can't play then. I message djc this. He says ok. Then Tuesday I hear the MOTW slot for tf2 this week was moved to Wed. He said they're going to cast the Xen game. I say "ok." And that was the extent of it. We prepared our asses off for badlands and came in and smoked Xen after they made us wait 30 min to start. We have 2 people on the East coast with jobs in the morning so the delays are not generally appreciated. After we beat Xen we knew we had clinched the LAN spot, and were indifferent about our rank. It's been a stressful season for us due to "drama" and a couple bad losses in week 1 to xen and then on gpit against vector. We finally clinched our spot and wanted to relax and have fun in our last two games(Yes we were planning on offclassing against Mix as well, we might rethink that now HEH). I warned cbear before we went live for the 2nd game that we were gonna be offclassing, and we started hopping in the server. A few of us were listening to the postgame/banter before we readied up, and we hear the speculation start up about "maybe they're offclassing to protest being casted." We've heard shit like this all season on streams about our team and I guess we got fed up. Justin went in to the mumble(which admittedly was dumb move), but I don't blame him for it because we're pretty consistently shit on by casters because people don't like Brad/Justin for personal reasons. If you don't, whatever, but don't tell 1000+ viewers that our team is a bunch of douchebags because YOU don't like us. ANYWAY... Justin going in to the mumble did not affect our decision to offclass. We had planned on it if we beat Xen and clinched our spot. If we lost to Xen we would have played Chess as hard as we could. We didn't have to though so we thought we would have fun with it. This next part is important: I and everyone else on my team thought the offclassing thing would genuinely be an enjoyable cast to watch. That was our motive. Nothing else. We offclassed pretty hard and got rolled but we were still trying, I just happen to suck dick with DH after playing scout for 3 hours prior. Literally the night before our game AG was doing quick fix and other stuff and afterwards admitted to throwing the game and nobody gives a fuck because during THAT game the casters were enjoying all the shenanigans. In the past I played offclass matches after lan spots were decided and the Mix^ vs Ducks game is like one of the most viewed on extvs channel I think.
There it is. That's our reasoning for offclassing. I'm sorry it turned out the way it did.
