Melee is pretty awesome to watch. I just wish mango wasn't such an immature turd, kind of a shame he's the #1 player given his attitude.

cage-the worst part of these threads is when mix^ players come in and act like everything is a joke
every time

Friendly reminder that some percentage of the money you give to ESEA ends up in harbleu's pockets. Just saying.

capnfapnSynchro, I like the count to 4 seconds tip.

In case it wasn't obvious (if newer players see this), since ubers last 8 seconds and people typically flash (the hope is that your combo can force flashes during a push I guess) to reduce the duration, counting out 4 seconds should give you the right timing to move through the flank (or choke depending on the map/situation) and arrive at the fight just in time to shoot things without them going invincible.

Unless you're fully buffed and very confident in your DM, never push with the combo. If you push into the flank and run into their flank, you'll likely have an even-numbers battle, which is bad. If you push in behind the combo during an uber exchange, you'll just be giving the other ubered combo something to shoot at.

I typically sit around and count out the first 4 seconds of the uber - after that, having listened to what the combo did (did they cover ground, did they get entry frags, etc.) - I'll probably choose that time to start moving it. By the time you get to the fight, things should be hurt and the uber should be faded(ing).

In general though, don't push unless you're next to at least one person.

freakinI'm not even convinced the CEVO client actually does anything. I'm pretty sure I recall playing in a match where only 9 or 10 people even used it.

Because CEVO doesn't provide their own servers, they have no real way of ensuring that a person playing in a match in connected through the CEVO client. The only thing they can do (I assume) is check if people were in the client when they were supposed to be, and if they weren't, they can overturn matches.

Air_owl i like you and i think you're a smart guy but if you found out a restaurant was putting rat poison in the food, would you continue to eat there?

Holy shit people please, PLEASE stop using terrible metaphors in these threads.

And if you're not sure if your metaphor is going to be terrible, trust me, it is.

r4ptureReminder that the ESEA client has the ability to go through your computer, change and alter files, and basically do anything it damn well pleases.

To be fair, any program you download could do that without you knowing. The important thing is that the client goes places it probably doesn't belong, and now it's known rather than just being a possibility.

Mr_OwlI'm going to continue to play in ESEA because after some thought I'd rather stay in ESEA a season too long than jump to CEVO a season too early.

At the very least people should try to play in both. If everybody who's saying "yeah I'm going to stick with ESEA until CEVO gets better" just switched over, CEVO would suddenly be the obvious choice for competition. Instead, we have to do this terribly slow grind of trying to convince people to play in the other league, and most people won't want to go through the effort. If everybody just played in both (replace a night of scrims with a CEVO match?) then we would easily be able to figure out which service is going to benefit us in the future. Why is everybody so short-sighted?

Mind sharing why you're replacing your M50's? Just curious because a lot of people at work recommended them, and I just got a pair.

DaggerAlso, can we actually get a formal explanation (from the developers of the client or owners of ESEA) on why the client allows ESEA to access everything on your computer?

And have them not give the "that's how the client works" bullshit?

I was going to comment on this, but I honestly think that's just part of how their anti-cheat attempts to find nastier hacks. It kind of makes sense to me, although I didn't trust them enough to keep the client on my computer at the end of last season.

Just a quick reminder that ESEA lied about putting a bitcoin miner into the client, then lied about who knew, then lied about when it was put in, then lied about how much money they made off of it. I don't care if it was "just lpkane" who did all of that, he's basically the face of the company and always seems to have the final say in how things work.

visitnigAnd honestly don't worry about what college you get into, because as cliche as it sounds, its what you do that will count. I personally had a friend who went to a barely top 50 school and still got a position at Goldman Sachs along with other elite finance firms where the acceptance rate is much lower than Harvard(2% vs 6%) and had to beat multiple 4.0 Ivy students during the interview process.

I'd just like to point out that being a "barely top 50 school" still means you're in the top 2% of all schools in the nation; it does matter a fair amount, since there are thousands of universities, and that's just the USA alone.

That being said, good luck in your next four years of "real world prep" everyone; do your best to make the most out of it, both socially and academically!
