As someone admining for a relatively small org, managing anything is fucking hard and so is keeping motivation up to do it. There's always gonna be someone that puts down your efforts and this is especially the case when your work is public. I have the luxury of having most of my projects be behind the scenes, but anyone in production doesn't have that. Any work they put directly contributes to what everyone will absorb and when you put in a lot of work to get nothing or something bad back, it fucking sucks.
I have immense respect for everyone in production, especially those who have dedicated so much of their free time to contribute to this community because they're forced to take a lot of shit to do something they love.
Just don't be an asshole if you see work put in for volunteer work. You can dislike its quality, but at the end of the day there is someone trying to improve at what they do and putting them down will keep them from wanting to keep the ball rolling. And if you like the content, support it. Share it to people and give constructive feedback. It feels good to be appreciated for time put in and this shows it.
bump, considering scout now. still playing for :/ in playoffs so just lookin for potential teams to tryout for when time opens up.
Hey guys, I’ll try to keep this short and sweet: Newbie mixes needs coaches for weekly mixes!
Newbie Mixes is a dedicated pug and guidance service intended for TF2 players looking to enter the competitive 6s scene. We accomplish this through our weekly mixes on Fridays where we curate teams of new players and pair them with a coach who will give them a short explanation of 6s at its most basic level and some advice on what to do after each round. A more organized pug with added on advice, essentially. Alongside this, our discord is open for questions about TF2 where coaches do their best to answer or point them in the right direction.
We’ve accomplished these thanks to the various coaches who have helped out over the years (Shoutout to them!). However, almost consistently we have had issues with maintaining coach numbers within mixes specifically. This is where you come in!
We are looking for players with a minimum of RGL Intermediate playoffs experience and above (or relevant experience from other leagues) to come and coach for some weekly mixes. Mixes are every Friday beginning at 9 PM EST and they end around midnight EST. (but we don’t expect you to stay the entire time) We will give you some minor instructions before, but coaching here is fairly simple to do. The only requirement besides the experience is that you are not currently banned on RGL or your relevant league. If you are at all interested in or have any questions about coaching, please send me a DM on discord at tonyolsen#3664 and/or join our discord here: Discord
Just to be clear, this is more of an “alert signup” for when we are in need of coaches. There is no commitment whatsoever for weekly mixes and this just allows us to notify you if we need coaches. From there, it’s up to you to decide whether you feel like showing up that day! :)
At this point the only options left are shitty ones so I just wish they would stick with a decision and stop changing it. People are getting fucked over either way and I get wanting to minimize damage but they're making it worse by going back and forth
I'm willing to put up with a lot of things from RGL, including the sudden need for a 3 team qualifier, but I can't fathom why there wasn't a strict deadline for invite teams to get settled. I like everyone on the virgil team and no hate to them because frankly, this isn't their fault. But they were given the option by RGL to come back after saying they were dead, after we started paying up, and after people started making other plans with a night we had no business competing on this late.
I respect the need for a qualifier, but having a minimum of 18 people waiting at the last minute on whether they are playing an incredibly important match night is very frustrating.
Also, I just got word that the virgil team has decided to not play invite and I just wanted to give my immense respect to them for a hugely selfless decision that came from an awful situation.
edit: guess it was on RGL to take out pootis and not entirely their decision? Either way I can't blame them in the slightest for wanting to keep their invite team alive because they're great, but man what an awful situation in general
amazing player amazing guy
go antecedent and co!
lets go witness!!!!!!!
all i want is my tftv logo ice cube mold
