What I'm confused about is to complete the formula "b^2 - 4ac", I need to find a,b and c.
Are they K, -2K and -3K - 12 or are they 1, -2 and -3 - 12. In other words, do I need to include the K?

To me, it only makes sense that the K be included so I used the formula and got "16k^2 + 48K >= 0"
What am I supposed to do with that?

Find the range of values of K so that Kx^2 - 2Kx - 3K - 12 = 0 has real roots.

Roots being where it cuts the X axis, and real being it actually does cut the X axis. I can try substituting random numbers for K but there must be a quicker way of find the range. Again any help very much appreciated

They said they would release nothing this year and then released the 7790 which I heard was a hybrid between current gen and next gen hardware anyway. So I'm not completely convinced that there won't be AMD cards this year

Don't bank on getting last generation hardware and getting really high value out of it. Unless it's used. Last generation stuff doesn't drop by a huge amount, and certainly not enough to make it better than buying the current gen stuff. You'd be better off getting a low end current gen graphics card
