On a more serious note, if you regard your mouse as an extension to your arm, it feels more natural to aim with and fire from the right side than from the middle of your torso.

I used to use an MX518, liked the shape a lot + specs were decent, what I didn't like is the congealed sweat that hours of gaming coated the glossy surface with.
Now I have a Steelseries Sensei Raw, in the matte finish, and absolutely love it. Convinced it's the best possible mouse in that price range.
My mousepad is older than I am and it's the only thing I've used in the past couple years, so I'm the wrong person to ask about that.
