PhiSunshine is now officially in-game! There's been a lot of changes.

Here's a changelog of almost all the major ones (might have missed one or two):

• Blocked sightline from cafe to second
• Raised said door 8u
• Moved cover from cafe to mid in order to make standing on tetris unable to see players pushing through cafe
• Moved and raised doorways exiting cafe in order to support pushing through more
• Moved high ground next to lighthouse down by 48u, aligning it with the high exit from lobby
• Extended out high exit from lobby to make fighting easier
• Changed cover in flowers/valley in order to prevent players standing on fences, and seeing too much
• Moved barrel arrangement on shutter door side of last back 32u
• Raised fence between choke and second by 32u to block sightline
• Opened up the wall between left and right lobby
• Fixed visual glitch with one way windows in last spawn
• Simplified cubbyhole in bottom lobby
• Pushed upper side choke into last forward a bit, created new space for teams to play in – entrance is now closer to last
• Extended fence next to upper side choke to ceiling to prevent players from standing on top
• Major changes to shutter door side of last: if you enter shutter door, you can no longer be spotted from players in last and you have a safer entrance area around pack
• Moved shutter door over significantly, eliminating line of sight from shutter into last
• Shifted around geometry in shutter side lobby to better work with sightlines and encourage teams to use shutter side more
• Filled in useless area that used to connect to what used to be secret
• Edited displacements on mid to make the sightline under the church unusable
• Added planks underneath church to make sightline under church from choke to choke unusable
• Shortened openings on long sides of church to make visibility from shack more limited

Well I need to see that to understand what you just said

EDIT: I have gone into the game and the changes look fantastic. Now with all of the changes made to patio, the flanks, and lobby, Sunshine is so much more playable. Phi, you did a great job.

saamHonestly right now I'm furious at Sideshow.

For those of you who don't know, today Rikachu and I invited Sideshow along with some others to play in the first ever FaceIt TF2 cup, which we would win. As you can imagine, this obviously would have been quit a big draw for viewers. On top of that, both myself and Rikachu were being very entertaining to help promote a healthy stream. After the stream had ended, I requested my fair share of the stream, or 16.66%, which sideshow would amount to 33 baby pounds. After we had reached this agreement and I had given Sideshow my Paypal address, I left to watch the CS:GO major. The fact that I have come back to see Sideshow running away for the sole purpose of denying me the money that is rightfully mine sickens me.

Ask him for it back with interest when he gets back on his feet.

PhiAll the improvements I've made to the map were in the periods of time containing post-rc9 release and post-valve-contact time. Up until the very final deadline I was able to make whatever changes I wanted, and I had full control over the creative process.

I plan to update the map periodically when it goes official based on feedback from any tourneys it is present in, similar to what is done with CS:GO competitive maps.

The best part about it going official is that it's included within any content updates, and you don't have to manually download it separately from the rest of your tf2 files. The map will be constantly updated on everybody's end!

How long ago did Valve contact you about making Sunshine official?

with the increased focus valve has on actually balancing their weapons it will be interesting to see how they balance these weapons

i just hope they don't do something stupid like give pyro a flamethrower that just airblasts or something

If it's like the last WAR update, it has to be something that works for both of them. My bet would be a secondary as they both have the capabilities for a shotgun and a primary for both of them would be stupid at best and game breaking at worst. Melee is anything goes, but a secondary would make more sense.

it's a decade and a half old, i agree the game NEEDS optimization but it isn't worth it for valve to drag on compatibility for something people shouldn't even have to be relying on

I just like the look of DX8. I first used it because I liked how it looked, not that I needed too.

There's a whole lengthy list of changes from rc9 to the ingame version that I've made based on league and player feedback. Unsure if I should drop the changelog before the update hits, but rest assured - lots of stuff has been worked on.

I'd like a change log, but I can't think of a legitimate reason as to why I can't wait a day.

Valve breaks it horribly somehow.

Knowing that Phi has the change log, I presume they did it themselves and valve picked it up before it was released to the public.

Q: ARE THERE ANY MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PLAY?
A: The only minimum requirement is DirectX 9. However, certain graphical settings will be enforced in order to ensure a level playing field (i.e. only graphical options that can be accessed through the Options and Advanced Options menus).

Actually, you can turn off view models in Advanced options now.

For folks wondering: Sunshine's new ~updated~ official version has lots of things changed, lots of improvements and fixes. Can't wait for people to see it. So excited.

Do you think that Reckoner would ever get accepted in the near future? I feel that without quickplay, they would be reluctant to add new maps as it would be harder to experiment on new maps via pubs.

TcmanoDoes anyone know what the updated MM map pool is? I assume they are going to include Metalworks and Sunshine in it now as their both already known compet maps in ESEA.

I presume ESEA with the addition of Gorge and Gravel Pit (maybe?)
