happens to me in chivalry. the way I fix it is by closing steam and deleting clientregistry.blob
MR_SLINlooks just like twitch? haha
except theres no Kappa....
i swear these forums remind me of some other place, but I can't quite put my finger on it...
i guess I should post a few of the issues I had mentioned. the ones I can think of off the top of my head
•you need to double-click the dropdown boxes in the menu to get them to display text
•collision/hitboxes with weapons seem larger than default chivalry
•the block and shield hitboxes are much taller than they should be
•XP earned does not always save (i have not had this happen to myself nor friends, but apparently it's a thing)
KanecoI loved playing chivalry for the first 2 or 3 times and its an amazing feat of indie game dev, but it has so much more potential than what it is now. After the first 2 or 3 times the movement really starts to feel kinda clunky and slow as you said it, the expansion supposedly adresses some of those problems but they should incorporate it and even make it better in the base game.
Also there is much more that could be done in respect to the "loadouts" and skills/levels, it's not really very userfriendly atm
Yeah I know what you mean, the clunkyness of the original game is the reason I didn't touch melee combat. DW (the expansion pack) doesn't feel even remotely clunky when compared to the original, it's great.
It's a pretty fun expansion pack. Seeing as how Tornbanner is the company making the game, there are a number of issues with it but I would still pay for it again.
They drastically increased the pace of the game compared to Medieval Warfare. The movement speed, attacks, ect. I didn't pay too much attention to default chivalry's melee combat, but I believe 'hittracing' is a new feature to DW. Hard to explain in a few words, so here's a good video that explains it. I'm not completely sure if I like this, but I don't know what the alternative could be.
Onto balance, friends and I have put a lot of time into this game and feel like each class is actually... balanced well in their own way(we haven't played much Pirate so I dunno about that, also note I said classes not weapons)
At the end of each map there's a server wide vote with 3 options. Here's a quick example
1. TEAM DEATH MATCH (ALL)
2. LAST TEAM STANDING (VIKINGS vs NINJAS vs SPARTANS vs SAMURAIS)
3. LAST TEAM STANDING (SPARTANS vs ALL)
I believe each scenario is randomly generated, and I have yet to find one 'unwinnable' for a specific side
i think the biggest selling point for me is the dumb fun you can have with friends, though. forming a shield wall and pushing up toward people kicking them around, all throwing your spears or shields at a person, communicating with all the over-the-top voice commands, ect. here's a highlight from the stream that got me interested in the game.

that turned out much longer than expected :p
make a home made gaming sleeve. get a long sock and cut the end off.

playing too much is just as bad as not playing enough.
I had written something similar to this (not nearly as finished, of course), and my idea was to have two separate applications. One for the everyday user, and another for those who create HUDs/plugins ect. The plan was that it would require almost no effort from me after release by having those who create the HUD do things such as upload the name/description/screenshots/ect, the only thing I would do is give them their own login account (to prevent needless spamming).
No idea if you have a better system or what, just figured i'd post it. Looks nice, good job ^_^
edit: welp, looks like you covered this. didn't notice the 'documentation for devs' button.
you can now bypass those pesky pub skillbans with the new family sharing
Using Steam's new Family Sharing feature, Server Bans can be easily bypassed, along with other Steam based bans. This is due to the fact that the launched game doesn't use the owner's Account ID, rather the newly created account id. This impacts CS:GO's banning mechanisms (blocked friends, abandon match timeout), all Community Server based bans, and many other community based stat tracking functions. Bypassing bans has been a rampant problem in TF2 since the game went F2P, and hasn't been addressed since the change.
Please add a Function to any public interface so server operators can get the primary holder AccountID, or glue the Primary User's accountid onto launched games. The former would be nice to preserve the idea of different accounts, but this is a pretty significant problem for everyone going forward...
Kyle.
edit: i put this in the wrong section, as you can already do this in tf2 for free.
