mausythe mumble idea is good, we already have enough DM/MGE servers though, what could be cool is if you get a 12 slot scrim server and give out the RCON for the community to use when they want
i'm a little worried that it would be underpowered for a 12 slot server, but i suppose once i get my hands on it i could do some stress testing with some comp teams just to see if it shits the bed. i think i'll buy it and we'll play it by ear, and see what we can accomplish with it :)

I'm not sure about the Arizona DC, i had a server in Michigan a long time ago and i ended up moving away from it. I can't remember why though. They have most likely gotten much better since then and Level 3 is a good backbone.
Heck looking at that price, you could honestly get a dedi with windows server or something within that range and possibly better specs.
i'm not going with another colocation service- this colocation is free because i'm an employee at liquid web :P
but yeah, i might do a 10 man mge server, but since there are already a bunch of well-established ones (reddit, trashedgamers, etc) i feel like it's a bit of a waste. do you guys think it'd be better to just run a mumble server that can be rented out (for free) to teams who need one for scrims/matches?

so i never got around to building a server because it's expensive as fuck but i'm still looking into doing a dm/mumble server for you guys. someone in my local linux user's group is selling a server with the following specs:
- Epox AM2 SLI Motherboard (think this onel:

- 4x1GB DDR2 800 RAM
- AMD X2 3800+ (or 4000+, hard to keep track of which processor is
which - dual core, 65watt regardless - supports hardware

- Nvidia graphics card or some kind (probably a 7200 fanless)
- Name-brand ATX power supply (Coolermaster, I think - possibly Antec)
- PATA DVD-burner
- Western Digital Hard disk of some sort, probably 120-250GB range.
does this sound underpowered for a soapdm server and an on-demand mumble server? what do you guys think? he's saying $80-$120, should i grab it up?
