eeei thought 120hz meant 120 tickrate?

hz can be any form of iterative rate, but i would highly doubt they'd mention tickrate like that rather than refresh rate. i've never heard a developer use the measurement of hertz for a tickrate. not to mention the server infrastructure needed to support that kind of tickrate - what games actually do that? even OW, which has the massive blizzard server infrastructure behind it, isn't adapting to fucking 60 because of server concerns. the only games that actually use 120 natively are, what, csgo competitive if you happen to force your server to use 128 in the first place? by default it sure doesn't do that, and i'm fairly certain valve's servers don't. even quake live's server tickrate is only 40.

RainofLightthe fact they advertise 120hz (not 144?) and unlocked framerates like those are special features that wouldn't be included in a quake game by default is kind of silly, and I feel like the move towards class based gameplay will make the game meta easier to learn thus widening the audience, which is good.

they advertised it because it's not the norm for most games nowadays. a crazy number have framerate locks, caps, or other issues with HFR. doom was the first id tech game to not have HFR issues in a fucking decade.

I assume saying 120 directly was just an oversight, because they did also mention unlocked framerate, and doom didn't have any issues with 144. I think id tech 6 has finally fixed those problems.

eeeMost of the fault I've listed is targeted at BGS as a publisher.

BGS is not a publisher. I'm trying to differentiate Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) with Bethesda Softworks (BS).

Most of our misunderstanding and conflict is coming from you using the wrong names for the wrong companies.

just keep in mind that Quake is being developed by id and not BGS. id doesn't have much to their name recently besides doom, so we can't really be sure how it's going to turn out. the only thing they share is Bethesda as a publisher. most of the fault you've listed are targeted at BGS.

Nub_Danishshe said that she did not want him to go to prison

no she didnt.

In her impact statement, the victim says that her statements were oversimplified in the probation report; she acknowledges telling the officer that she did not want Turner to "rot in prison" or to feel that his life is over, but insists she did not mean to suggest that he should only get a light jail sentence.

eeeDOOM and Wolfenstein are the only games they've PUBLISHED that have received any sort of positive critical reception afaik. The point was bethesda greenlights some absolutely horrible projects.

but bethesda didn't DEVELOP dishonored, they only PUBLISHED it, and yet it was received better than both of the ones you've listed. my point isn't that they don't have a bad track record of published games, but rather that your original statement,

which isn't an improvement because Doom (and newvegas sorta) is the best game they've published by nearly 30 metacritic points

is wrong by these many games:

http://puu.sh/pqWii/a15c6b08a2.png

the list goes on too. you made a really bold claim with no substance to back it up, and all i'm trying to do is prove that the claim was wrong. use facts next time you're trying to make an argument.

ps: evil within would also be on this list but the pc version bombed because of a shitty port, and i felt it was unfair to compare across platforms

pps: i also never brought up the fact that your original quote used the word "published", which also applies to the games they've developed in the same way that a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not always a square. technically they published all of their own games too, so your original statement is even more incorrect, but even ignoring that you're still wrong.

eeedo you want me to explain the difference between developing and publishing? because shit like the evil within, wet, and rouge warrior weren't made by bethesda

these are the games actually made in house by bethesda

this is a list of games they've published as either bethesda or zenimax.

i'm fully aware of the difference, are you trying to claim dishonored was made by them?

fahrenheitI'm not saying they're going to completely rework the game into a different engine. I'm saying why not use a well established IP like Quake and combine it with elements from their struggling project Battlecry to enter the market of class based shooters that is popular right now. BattleCry Studios and ID Software are both subsidiaries of ZeniMax Media just like you guessed it, Bethesda.

Of course this is all speculation I'm saying so take it for granted.

while anything is possible, id is more likely just holding back because they don't have much else to show yet, since they just finished up with doom. battlecry studios has also posted new job openings, claiming they're working on a new multiplayer shooter, so that probably means that battlecry is done and they'll be moving onto something new - nothing official yet though.

all anyone can do at this point is speculate until quakecon.

fahrenheithmmm classes with unique abilities in your arena shooter... and they completely axed battlecry which was an overwatch/lawbreakers like game right before this...

what are you up to with quake bethesda

battlecry isn't axed yet, and it was in development by battlecry studios, not id software, so if you're suggesting the game has transitioned kind of like titan did into overwatch, i think you're pretty mistaken. they weren't even on the same engine - battlecry used/uses/will use cryengine, and quake is using id tech 6.
