Salamancer3 segments would be better so people can pick and choose. I strongly disagree that the show needs to be any longer. We are competing for everyone's time, and the more of it we ask to take, the more likely we lose out to TV or actually playing video games. I could be convinced to change my mind - but by data, not opinion. You'd have to take a sampling of current viewers and current non-viewers and show me whether the likelihood to watch the show would increase or decrease as a function of how long it is.
I mean, I could make a whole survey about it and regress the results. But believe me, doing it right takes a LOT of work.
Still - most of the feedback here is great qualitative analysis and I will be adjusting a lot of the show accordingly.
Having a little bit of a curiosity prod here. I don't follow the show a lot as I don't have a lot of time during the middle of the week (full time work, au/NA timezones etc) but I generally try to catch up on the weekend with the vods.
I digress. Basically what I'm asking is if you actually have these as podcasts? I'm sure if people don't have time to sit and watch a stream for ages, and would instead prefer to go watch said tv or play games (more-so the latter), that if they were interested in the show they would listen to it by any means.
It seems you devalue your show (or value other people's time a lot more?). If anything you should perhaps do a poll regarding these kinds of things, because I personally often listen to podcasts for shows like this that I have missed. As mentioned earlier, people will stick around also for the give away/raffle, so there's no need to worry about "wasting people's precious time".
Hope I'm not beating on a dead horse or anything, but just my opinion. Keep up the good work.
BEFORE YOU ASK
Things I HAVE tried:
del config/-autoconfig
dx8/9
del hud
diff res etc
underclocking
game cache
reinstall
tf folder
I DO NOT USE A FIREWALL/AV
I have to join a local server before I can join any server each time I launch tf2.
Has only happened since I moved house (so new internet). Possibly related?
Hello.
I finally have decent internet/computer, and I'm going to start streaming. I'll mostly be playing TF2, with the occasional random game of DotA2 or something else. Right now since I'm working full time (til 15th January, contract ends) I'll only really be able to stream from ~19:00 AEDT to 01:00 AEDT (do the maths I'm pretty awful at conversion). EDIT: 03:30 eastern if I'm not an idiot
For some background, I play pocket soldier for the #1 Australian TF2 team nearly 3 years running.
I'll be willing to take questions (preferably concerning to the game, and keep it PC if possible :/).
Thanks
Edit: Brief description - I play pocket/main caller for iM - the #1 team in Australia.

Echoing above post, but can also be in part to valve being annoying and messing up the "violence" cvars in a recent patch, which should allow you to remove blood/etc so there would be practically no particle effect, which now actually shows really annoying sparks.
They're default off in chris' configs, so if you don't want the annoying sparks (and want blood instead of them), turn these to 1.

Just because someone's vac banned doesn't mean it's for TF2. Could be for 1.6 (re: doesn't count for TF2 afaik?).
"My vac ban was a douchebag friend" dunno if that's related to TF2 or not - OP will have to clarify.
Just play the game as much as you can in any way possible. Saying you won't learn anything from pubs/lobbies is not true and defeatist - only you can limit yourself, and only you can make yourself improve. You won't get better by avoiding the game - just play the game. I played a lot of pub when I was improving just to help me get a better feel of the games mechanics (projectiles vs hitscan, different movement speeds, map layouts).
I made a blog post quite a while ago, (mostly to do with one's attitude/mental state when playing TF2), but it is pretty broad regardless and should help you out a little.
http://yookstah.livejournal.com/2698.html but prepare for some light reading (re: ~4k words).
Play pugs, play pubs. This is how you develop connections with other players (potentially like minded) that may want to play with you in a team. You can't really just stumble into a team without putting your face out there. Put in the effort of playing in things you might not want to (lobbies/pubs) and you'll find people to play with in due time.
If you have any questions about anything, feel free to post them here or add me on steam if you like.

re virulence: That is pretty messed up. All that experience and it apparently means nothing. ???
Had a squiz at the demo today (haven't been able to go into detail exactly since I've been at a LAN), but I'll post some observations here.
-Awareness: This seems like a pretty big fault of yours a lot of the time. Quite often it seems you're walking into an area and you aren't really sure where enemies are/what is going on. You would often rocketjump at a teammate and shoot 1 or 2 rockets at them thinking they're an enemy. Whether this is your fault, your teams, or a combination of the two I don't really know.
-Ammo management: Another big flaw in your play. It appears you don't really seem to count or keep track of how much ammo you've spent in your respective weapons. There was a time in the demo (I think in the 6th round) you were repushing mid and you kept swapping to your shotgun between rockets even though you had 0 shotgun shots left. There were also times where quite often you were reloading shotgun over rocket launcher (9 out of 10 times, you reload rockets first - too many reasons why this is the case but they should be mostly obvious).
-Aggressiveness with ubers: Your aggressiveness isn't too bad and shows that you really want to catch the other team off guard with some really aggressive offensive ubers. One you did into second point started quite well - killed a scout and almost killed the demo, but then you were overextended with just you and your med, then the enemy team proceeded to counter-uber and kill you all. Aggressive ubers are fine, just know your limits to how far in you can go and for how long.
-Aggressiveness/passivity without ubers: It seems that you don't know when you should be aggressive/passive without uber. A huge example was quite often I saw that your team would be holding back left of yard in an even situation (players/ubers/ammo etc). You really don't want to concede that much ground for free, even when you have some disadvantage (let alone when it's even :/). You need to understand that even if you hold forward for just a LITTLE bit, that small amount of time may be the difference to you being able to hold the next position or not (or last even).
A few timestamp observations (will go into detail later):
~7:20 - you jumped away on near full hp and ammo when you could have easily jumped the med (Whether this is your teams fault for not communicating it or yours for being a bit scared I'm not sure). I guess this goes back a bit to awareness + communication in general.
~09:45 - You jumped into their whole team when they had 100% uber advantage. You want to attempt to pick players off/pressure the combo when they push, but you don't want to give them a free player advantage. Sure they have uber advantage, but you need to make them work for their kills - not make it even easier for them.
tick 45k: Holding way too passively in yard when everything is even. Self explanatory, I already covered this but that's that.
I'll get more into detail for this when I get home from the lan in the next day or so.
Sigma beat me to a post. I don't know why there's a discussion on this but whatever. If this is regarding viewership it's unfortunately inherently flawed as it's viewed as a "randy pub casual game" with "eyecandy graphics" and it's a team based FPS (ie, hard to follow all the action, casters/exp players and new spectators/players alike). But that can't be helped.
Otherwise, if it's to do with making the game "more interesting", it really isn't needed.

Artisan Hayate
Used the keyboard at a friends and ordered one online 10 seconds after typing on one. I've owned the Artisan for quite a while and it's just great. Great glide for a cloth pad, plus extremely simple style gives it bonus points in my book.
Using at work and I fucking hate it. I daresay it'd be even more of a nightmare to use on my home pc for games :/
*shrug* on that note - whatever works, I guess :)
Became pay to win after beta. Using vanilla weapons is fine I guess (core game is still fun), but I have yet to actually play it since it was released on steam :x
Problem is if you play heroes that actually require things to be in seperate control groups (chen, enchantress, lycan maybe, etc), then you have to use 5 6 7 and such for your control groups (which just feels kinda weird for other units.
