I can't begin to describe how dumb these people are.
If you weren't supposed to shoot at the other guy spawning the spawns would be on the fucking ground. Jesus.
Things do have flaws, nothing is built perfect, and endif is no different. Sorry, but shooting someone with very limited strafing ability since you are basically falling vertically is tryharding at its best.

sildeezyWhile people who mindlessly vertical-surf rockets are annoying to play against, I find it far more annoying to play against people who hold S the entire time and try to maintain as much distance as possible.
"Practicing long range rockets"
(lol)
Edit: Not sure if people think that is actually a good time investment or if they missed the quotation marks.
I think it's worth it. Even if you type at a decent speed, you'll most likely type twice as fast once you learn how to type with all your fingers (minus one thumb I guess).
http://www.typingweb.com/ is pretty cool. I already used the standard typing method when I found this site, but it still taught me how to properly use my pinky fingers and how to fix some other minor problems I had.
atmozigzterPlease explain to me how you improve by continually rocket surfing and never firing at the other guy. I'm genuinely curious. You've already mentioned that there are other arenas that engender different styles of play and practise different elements of your game, so I don't see how this is a point of confusion.
I used the Endif example because based on what you said that seems to be how you play Ammomod.
atmozigzterThen I don't understand the point of it. If you mean what I think you mean, you're basically playing Ammomod like Endif? What do you do if someone hits you the second you land? Wouldn't you spend the entire game going up and down and never firing at him?I'm not going to answer your question about Endif because it's been made clear that my view of MGE deviates from the predefined way you "should" play. But your phrasing is continually giving the impression that you think winning in MGE is important, which seems silly and unproductive to me.
Regardless, different arenas help with different areas of play, so playing them all the same seems silly and unproductive to me. Besides, gl with trying to rocket surf indoors with a low ceiling.
I think improving is important.

I can't imagine it's to improve your rocket surfing abilities, because learning how to do that requires about as much time as learning how to do stair-stabs does.
Tbh, I'm not entirely sure if you're serious or just trolling me now.
atmoWell, I've already explained that isn't what I took the term "rocket surfing" to mean, and can tell you from experience that the one I did mean is not a very viable strategy for winning 1v1s, but again, winning is not something I feel is all that important in a training mode. I think is disagreement stems from my misunderstanding of what Juned termed "rocket surfing" which sounds like a behaviour similar to counter-jumping, in his case. Obviously that's quite annoying because it has no applicability outside MGE.

atmozigzterI get the feeling you don't quite understand what Ammomod is for.Maybe so, could you tell me?
blaze, read the tftv rules.
Well, it's a flat circular arena.
Logical conclusion would be that it's for practicing movement and aim, and learning how to analyze the movement and aim of your opponent.
Not mashing duck/jump whenever possible so you can fly up and spam rockets at the ground below you while the other guy either has to hit every airshot or lose.
atmozigzterWell exactly, it's not a winning strategy in the context of the arena so I don't see why it would madden your opponent if they do care about MGE points. You are, in a sense, willingly taking damage which seems illogical. But to reference the latter half of your post, the benefit of training rocket surfing, at least to me, is that is that it helps you to form positive outcomes from what on the surface appears to be a negative event.atmoIt seems we have different interpretations of "rocket surfing". The one I envisioned was more akin to that which Medics do, and doesn't offer much in terms of combat advantage as you usually spend your time facing away from your opponent. You shouldn't assume that every time someone does something different that it's an exploitative technique to one-up you in a minigame. Why is it necessary to rocket surf in ammomod? It's not like you can surf your way up onto a better position. Besides, staying on the ground and dodging rockets is much harder (and better practice) than pressing duck and jump whenever a rocket hits you.
As you say, it's better to avoid damage entirely, and that is often possible in the context of the 1v1 scenario that MGE places you in. In a full 6v6 game, however, it may not be possible in some circumstance to avoid damage entirely. Being comfortable with rocket surfing gives you the ability to perhaps take some small amount of damage but reposition yourself so that you don't take a potentially much larger amount of damage after dodging that first rocket then staying in the same position.
I get the feeling you don't quite understand what Ammomod is for.

Looks like it's gonna be a great day today
To get some fresh air like a stray on a straightaway
Hey you, got a light? nah, a Bud Light
Early in the morning, face crud from like a mud fight
Looky here, it's just the way the cookie tear
Prepare to get hurt and mangled like Kurt Angle rookie year
The rocket scientist, with the pocket wine list
Some even say he might need some p-sychiatrist
Doom, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Yes, but why would the darn thing be wandering?
She's like a foundling, barely worth fondling
My posse's on Broadway like Mama I Want to Sing
Mad plays the bass like the race card
Villain on the case to break shards and leave her face scarred
Groovy dude, not to prove to be rude
But this stuff is like what you might put on movie food
Uh, what is jalapenas
Get it like a whuppin' when you holla at your seniors
Dolla he can overhear the hashish vena
He just came from over there, the grass is greener
Last wish, I wish I had two more wishes
And I wish they fixed the door to the Matrix, there's mad glitches
Spit so many verses sometimes my jaw twitches
One thing this party could use is more...
Booze, put yourself in your own shoes
And stay away from all those pairs of busted Tims you don't use
He only keep 'em to decorate
If you wanna peep him select a date
And bring a deep check like checkmate
I kid you not, on the dotted line signed
Ever since a minor, kids considered him some kind of Einstein
On a diamond mine grind, she was dumb fine
But not quite the type that you might want to wine and dine
Couldn't find a pen, had to think of a new trick
This one he wrote in cold blood with a toothpick
On second thought it's too thick
His assistant said: "Doom, you sick" he said "true" through acoustics
Psycho, his flow is drowned in Lawry's seasoning
With micropower he's sound and right reasoning
Easy as Pi, three point one four
One more one false move and they're done for

Snowydoes endif actually help you?
I do it for fun sometimes but a lot of people tell me that it's impractical
I've no opinion on this either way yet
The only thing that is modified in Endif is knockback force, so it's still decent airshot practice.
Though I find the default knockback modifier is too high, so I lowered it a little on MGE iT so it feels a little more "useful" because people won't be flying three times as high as the skybox is on normal maps.
"Rap is something you do. Hip-Hop is something you live." - KRS-One.
My view (which I find is generally shared among people involved with the "scene") is that Rap is a music genre, while "Hip-Hop" by itself refers to the culture.
"Hip-Hop music" would refer to any music created in said culture, whether it's rap, turntablism, or whatever.
Whenever people say something along the lines of "50 Cent is rap, not hip-hop. MF DOOM is hip-hop" I get an incredibly strong urge to roundhouse kick them in the face.
Edit: Maybe DOOM is bad example, considering his fans generally aren't that dumb. Immortal Technique or Aesop Rock would be a better example I guess.
