So I've been playing with this team for 2 seasons. I've grown to like all the guys a lot, and we have had a great time so far. I recently had some personal problems and was off TF 2 for a little while. In that time, they had no hesitation of taking me off the starting position and to backup. This seems to be sort of permanent, and i'm thinking about moving on. Anyone here moved on from a team that they had a lot of good times with? What's it like?
#6 That's what I was thinking, seems simple enough. Guess i'm just over-thinking it?
If you had such a fun time w/ your old team, what makes you think you can't find a new team that's just as fun?
Go for it, no reason to stay backup if you don't want to play backup.

Have you tried talking with your team to see if there's a possibility to get your starter position back? I mean screwing over some guy isn't really the greatest idea, but if you really wanna start, talking with your team is the best start. Otherwise, growing attached to the team you're on is a good thing. It's that chemistry that helps teams grow, and it's natural to feel kinda down about the idea of moving on (team wise).
#8 It's just the whole process of finding a team that fits me, the first time around was a nightmare and a series of rejections.
#9 I haven't really talked about it. They gave their reasons (my nonavailability) and are very bullheaded about it. Just as a note, this was during one of my IRL sports seasons which contributed to the lack of time, right now i'm free so i'm active again.

If you weren't available I think it's a completely honest reason for them to put you on backup. If you were really good friends with them, I don't see why you can't still play with them whenever, and chill in mumble. You just don't get to play matches/scrims.
#11 Well, I guess I should have provided more info. During my times when I WAS available, they would have scrims and not include me. They were trying out backups WHILE I was active. Imo, sort of a ass move. I think they could have at least told me "Hey man, either get more active or move on." But they couldn't do that for w/e reason.
Just because you move on from a team doesn't mean you can't hold on to the friendships you made there. It's just a game. If you actually care about the dudes you played with, you'll still maintain your friendships. Pugs are great for that sorta shit.
its not really a big deal, i got "moved to backup" when THPS went invite and chose to look for another team so I could actually play, there was no bad blood and i was still friendly with all those dudes
the more cool ex teammates you have on steam friends the easier you have it finding scrims/ringers

that's what you think bitch
once you're off starter, you're dead to me

Shit sucks, no easy way about it.
Even if you stay friends with some of the old team, it will still suck knowing you got replaced by friends, for some random person.
Good Luck on finding a team.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. Taking it all into consideration. Nice to see so many helpful bros
I'm still good friends with at least 12 of the 25 people I cut. The rest we just sort of stopped talking after time, not because they were cut but just because we fell out of touch etc. There were only a few that fell out specifically because of being cut and in most of those cases there were a lot of extenuating circumstances.
If you're going to continue to play sports that will take you out of action then it's going to be hard to find a team to stick with for a long time. Sorry but it's tough trying to mesh with someone then have them leave, mesh with someone new, then they come back again. :/
