joejoe347They only have a few thousand hours in csgo, but almost every cs pro playing today has been in the scene for 6+ years, and a few for 10 or more. They probably have double those hours in 1.6 and source.
To back this up, something interesting from reddit today:

and valve didn't start tracking playtime till 2009 so those 1.6 hours are a lot lower than they should be

I find it interesting that most went from source to go and classic to go, very few played a lot of all 3
also who is the baller with only 1.5k total

it's because source and 1.6 were very different, so most pros that start in 1.6 stay there and the one that start in source never played 1.6
In fact, I think there isn't a single player (well known) that played both 1.6 and source professionally.

I think the post about the number itself simply being sensationalist sums up my thoughts on this. Also, though I'm sure this sentiment has been thrown around already, mastery is something that is quite subjective and honestly more based on someone's ability relative to someone else rather than anything static.

Kind of off-topic, but there actually are a few that went pretty big in both scenes, and arguably even in GO afterwards. Two that immediately come to mind are Volcano and sunman of both Team 3D and Team Dynamic fame. Mind you, those are only their ESEA profiles and there are countless events both have been to for CS:S in the past on-top of their even more previous CS endeavors.

Also all that graph says is that none of them played both CSS and 1.6 after 09 or whenever hours started getting logged. Considering both scenes by then had established scenes this is not surprising
