TL;DR: Is my DVI-D cable length causing "DVI-D No Signal", green dots, monitor blinking and disallowing me to receive 144hz? I just want to able to use 144hz with my DVI-D cable without these repercussions.
I recently purchased a 10 foot long dual link dvi cable to start getting 144hz on my 144hz compatible monitor. I had set my monitor's options (using the actually monitor i.e pressing its buttons to select the DVI option) to receive the DVI connection. My problem is that once I had connected everything, started up my computer and selected 144hz on the >Screen Resolution>Monitor, the screen blacked out (as it would regularly if you were changing res/hertz) for a second and when it came back, it stayed at 60hz.
At this point I was just assuming that it was nothing and that it was just some normal computer problem that was solved by trying again, which I did. After a cycle of trying to select 144hz (and being on 60hz to begin with), the monitor started blinking (it blacked out and went back to the desktop for no reason, even after hitting apply once you selected your hertz, it just kept turning off and on). NOTE: It did only appear to be with 144hz, I tried other hertz options like 100hz, and it worked. It only didn't wanna go to 144hz after the regular blackout when changing hertz/res.
I turned off the computer and monitor and tried again. Once the computer and monitor powered on, I saw that even in the stages of my computer starting up, it was blinking (i.e *Regular start up that shows monitor brand blah blah blah*, there was also some weird little green spots on monitor). After a few a seconds passed, the monitor started displaying "DVI No Signal", even though I surely had both ends of my DVI-D cable plugged in (in the midst of this, monitor was still blinking and the cycle of blinking and "DVI No Signal" continued). This was happening for around 5 minutes until I decided to turn off the monitor and computer and try again, but of course, nothing.
I tried unplugging and plugging back in the DVI-D cable thinking it was just a problem with the cable being a little loose, because that was what it appeared to be. This time there didn't appear to blinking and I made it to the desktop where I tried changing to 144hz, but of course, nothing. The blinking cycle continued.
I tried looking up solutions to my problem and I thought that I found an answer which was taking out other cables that were not in use i.e HDMI/VGA (this didn't work either). After trying another power off/on and blinking cycle, my monitor still wouldnt go to 144hz in the >Screen Resolution>Monitor options (and in ANOTHER power off/on blinking cycle, I got more green dots and shit started looking like matrix).
After a few hours when I decided to search for solutions again, I came across something that I believe MAY or MAY NOT be the solution, my DVI-D cable length. I read something about there not being enough strength in the connection due to the cable length, which would also explain why there was blinking, but it still worked.
The only reason why I was able to type this was because I found a temporary solution to my problem, selecting HDMI as my monitor's input (HDMI doesn't support 144hz, but atleast I can actually access my computer without blinking/green dots).
Any Solutions?
THINGS THAT I'VE ALREADY TRIED:

It could just be a bad cable.
It could just be a bad cable.
i use 10 foot long cables and don't get that issue with my vg248qe monitors
could be a problem with the cable, monitor, graphics card, (highly doubtfully) pci-e slot on the motherboard...
you'll have to tediously go through all potentially malfunctioning components to figure it out. no easy answer for you there.
what's your monitor's make & model? check if there might be a batch of malfunctioning monitors within a spectrum of serial numbers.
what's your gpu's make & model? try different drivers if nothing comes up about a potentially bad batch.
worst case, you might need to RMA something.
if you're adventurous and out of other ideas, you could get toastyx's custom resolution utility and make custom 144hz resolutions using reduced timings to identify the bottleneck.
overclock.net and hardforum are usually on top of issues of this sort. consult those sites for further help.

1. Did your monitor come with a DVI Dual Link cable? Most come with one somewhere between 3 and 6 feet so just test with that. If it still doesn't work it's not your cables fault.
2. Which "144hz compatible monitor"?
3. Did you buy a DVI-D Single Link or Dual Link cable?

(because i obviously pointed out the i had them in this thread?.......hello???)
i brought my monitor to some IT guy i knew who fixed it over night and im gonna go pick it up today, he'll tell me what the problem was

something that I would like to point out it
BurningSmileOkay guys, I added the op and the issue has been resolved. He was using a single link dvi cable as apposed to the proper dual link dvi cable. He was connecting it properly and all that. His pc supports dual link dvi no problem it was the cable that was messing it up.

Yes we figured that out, about the cable, however when he got the proper cable we still had some issues, It appears that his gpu is incapable of going to 144hz at 1080p.

You have never answered either of the 2 questions, which were the only questions required to solve your problem all along and which both I and Setsul have asked in both threads. Someone else said that you indeed had the wrong cable (which was question 1) but it had been fixed, but you made another thread anyway without responding to anybody else in the old one; it can thus be assumed that the problem has not been fixed and it is apt to ask the 2 questions again. You have still not answered them, instead someone else is posting that it is indeed your video card (which was question 2).
The only person who has failed to say anything relevant in either of these threads is you. Both of these threads and the time of everyone who tried to help you could've been saved if you had actually replied instead of being condescending. You don't even deserve the free assistance from people like BurningSmile and Setsul.

Wtf are you even on about mate? I don't know what you are trying to communicate but here are the simple facts:
You made 2 threads on teamfortress.tv asking for help.
If somebody was already helping you for 5 days and you didn't need further help, you wouldn't have made another thread asking for help.
But you asked for help and knowledgeable people people asked you two simple questions that, if answered, would've lead to the immediate resolution of your questions.
You failed to answer those questions, wasting everybody's time and now you are being a dick towards the people who tried to help you as though it was their fault that you failed to provide the necessary basic information that was required to help you.
You're also tripleposting and upfragging ur own posts and it's "case in point" smh

Ok, this is even better than I thought.
First of all it's already pretty sad when a native speaker misuses an idiom, but getting corrected by a non-native speaker must be embarassing.
What I'm really getting is that the time and effort I'm willing to put into helping you is directly proportional to the time and effort you're willing to put in. Grammatical and spelling errors are usually not a good sign.
A double post is bad, unless there is no edit function or the second post contains new information that only became known quite a while after the first post so that if you were to just edit it the people you're hoping to get help from would never see it.
However a triple post with none of the posts containing actual information is just prove that someone doesn't think before they post.
Either you don't know that you can edit your posts or you're one of those people that deserve a special place in hell.
Now back on topic.
1. You never posted the answers to those questions. Someone else did because you were too lazy to do it.
2. That someone also confirmed that you were indeed using a Single Link DVI cable.
3. Instead of just posting in that thread you made a new one.
4. And refused to tell us if the cable you're now talking about was actually Dual Link, the same Single Link cable that you used earlier or another Single Link cable.
I still don't know which monitor or GPU we're talking about. The only way this could get even funnier is if you were using VSync, bought a 144Hz monitor, then bought a new GPU with DVI Dual Link ports only to realise that you're not getting 144fps and it's dropping you down to 72fps (or even 36fps).

Has the OP even confirmed what monitor he's running? If it's greater than 1080p (and 1440p144 is becoming a thing) then dual-link DVI wouldn't even have the bandwidth to support it and he would be required to use DP.
