I thought about doing one for a long time, but here's the problem:
I might not update it regularly or at all. I just don't know if I'll have enough for it and should I quit TF2 then I'll probably not be on tf.tv much. Sure, if I end up doing the same on a different forum I'll copy the updates but if not then the whole thing would become outdated fairly quickly.
So basically I'm concerned that I'd put way too much work into it without it being useful for long.
The other thing is that it might become another comanglia's cfg where everyone and their mother posts 3 "improved versions" every day which are worse but are somewhat legitimized by being based on something actually decent.
Also there might be other good guides out there, I haven't looked yet.
Just to clarify, guide as in "how to pick the right parts" not as in "here's a list and this the absolute best partlist ever".
That's it, what do you guys think?

Do it, make the basics general enough that it remains a useful guide for picking parts into the future. You can make the "what is good to choose for playing tf2/x game/x activity" a separate section which would need to be updated more frequently.
Something like this would legitimately be useful as i've spent so much time telling people not to get needless shit like a second 144hz monitor for watching videos/streams on.

I probably would've made good use of it when planning my PC build (thank you again), just to get a general framework of what I should be thinking of, and a context to start my research.

Well given that you already basically prepare everyone here's builds for them if they ask making a guide might save you time in the long run. If you can generalise it well then it might end up being a lot of people's go to for recommending parts.
As in, if you just explain briefly what parts people should prioritise for which applications, eg cpu over gpu for tf2, more gpu focused for csgo/overwatch, anything that can run windows xp for a moba etc, then it will probably be more broadly useful to more people without requiring much more time to make. And it should stay somewhat relevant even if you/others do quit this game.

My efforts to research building a PC from the parts up led to a handful of pc websites that overview everything, and while they were okay, I needed the extra help from my computer savvy friend to do more than just the lego-assembly parts of it.
Honestly your vast knowledge of this area can be made succinct and clear in a guide, and I can see it being useful for people like me who needed more than just "Here are the parts that make up a pc"

It would be very appreciated, I really want to build a pc but im so clueless it makes me scared I will mess up, makes me want a laptop, but idk if I can even afford a laptop with the performance I need in the first place.

I'd offer my help however much I could to assist you if you'd like!

Building a pc is much easier than what most people think, do your research and run the build by someone with knowledge before buying the parts. If you're still not confident enough you can probably get someone to help you build it via skype

I'd still be down to put together pc builds for people for free as long as you are in North America and supply the $$$ or parts.

To clarify: There are enough videos out there how to assemble a pc, a huge wall of text won't be better than that. Maybe a few notes at the end about typical mistakes (e.g. forgetting motherboard standoffs).
This is about the partlist so that you can get for 1000$ what would cost 2000$ as a prebuilt or 3000$ from Alienware.

spreading your knowledge of budget management when it comes to component selection would be beneficial to all, please do
