Why is it that whenever I join AS there is only sub 1700 players on?

I am aware of the evidence, and I am also aware of the answers he gave you prior to you posting this comment. I don't like it when people have their head so far up their ass that they can't listen to the people with the answers, only concerned about their own well being.

I want this to end, so just drop it unless you have something of use, and at this point I think people have brought up every possible bit of "proof" and I've seen nothing but nice airshots

Most people with higher elo seem to be on in the evenings -- also I think earlier in the forum someone said something about 11,000 points? I think our highest person is at like 3k or somethin like that

Are the servers being DoSed or something? I've been getting dropped a ton lately, and they'll frequently disappear from my server browser for a while.

Please explain how it makes people toxic, I personally just just !eloscore and do not experience anyone being toxic to me, don't mean to be a dick about it either, I just have never experienced toxicity from elo

some, and i do say some people who play only for elo can be vey toxic. most just play gay and sometimes drop a bomb in chat and that's that, but others will harrass people about winning or losing elo, eventually dropping heavy insults.
granted, people will always be toxic like that about winning and losing, but having elo encourages people to strive to win. in an idea world and anywhere else than mge this is a good thing. the problem is people become toxic when they lose/others get upset about them using cheap tactics to win instead of focusing on practicing aiming.

IMO the fundamental problem with elo is that it gives people something to "defend" in mge. having low elo means you can afford not to care and focus on practicing, but when you get to a certain score, no matter who you are you'll probably always feel that itch when you start losing the elo that kinda proves you can win games. then you'll want to recover it. the only way to get above that is to lose ego completely, or hide the elo permanently. just my opinion.

removing elo fixes the problem, because people no longer have anything to feed their ego with except a chat message recording who won/lost. you no longer have anything to prove and defend.

even if you remove elo, there's gonna be people playing to win, some people just wanna only win even if it means they have to play gay, i don't like it but you just can't change that, it's not gonna go away even if you remove elo.

people will play gay more often if they have a statistic that is affected by whether or not they win

ppl dont play gay consciously unless its like 19-19 sometimes ppl might do something different for that 1 kill but really that doesnt matter because they didnt play like that the whole game

for example theres this guy who shotgun denies and switches to it whenever ur in the air so he doesnt have to airshot, but in his eyes thats just normal and fine practice. u could put ppl like this in any kind of server, with elo or without, even not public mge and they'd do shit like this cause ppl just dont change the way they play. its the same with ppl who don't play boring

the whole gaymge culture started because of elo, because normally you shouldn't mind playing vs gay tactics. the entire concept of a tactic being "gay" was born from people who were upset they lost elo to it OR their opponents did it better than they did and won the game and elo thanks to it. a tactic to win shouldn't be gay. it's considered gay because you have elo to protect, and if you lose to tactics that you have a hard time countering, you'll blame your loss on those regular effevtive tactics. that's counter productive and does not encourage improving in a healthy environment with a positive attitude.

thats not true at all. its considered gay because its not fun to play against. the reason why mge rules exist, i.e: letting the opponent jump, not counter jumping, not shotgun denying etc is so that u can get the most practice out of playing whilst having fun.

its an attempt to simulate real tf2 scenarios. ppl dont get mad at ppl who play gay cause they lost elo they get mad because they lost in a way that doesn't really prove anything cause their opponent won by doing shit that u couldnt do in a proper game which is why u hear all those invite players crying on their streams why they prefer dm over mge and they dont set foot in an mge server cause they would lose to iron/div 6 ppl who will then get some kind of false ego that they are good

as long as elo exist people will complain. the problem isn't elo tho, if someone wants to constantly win they will try to win whether elo is present or not.
