Bro this is a thread about amazon deals wtf
morwannegwarriordragon12with every purchase made on amazon, rent in south lake union goes up $50The cost of living in Seattle is also 50% higher than the national average. Paying someone 18/hr in Seattle may as well be the equivalent of paying them 15/hr anywhere else in the country outside of the other high cost of living metropolises.
also $15 an hour for warehouse workers sounds good until you realize random small ice cream shops in seattle pay their employees $18/hr+ and they definitely aren’t trillion dollar companies
that’s just the downtown, west and south seattle are incredibly cheap and the neighboring cities other than the east side are super cheap as well
the cost of living goes up because amazon has turned really cool parts of north seattle into a crazy gentrified office and luxury apartment zone

BBiA_duchessBro this is a thread about amazon deals wtf
its because people think boycotts still work in current year
im sorry i agree that how amazon treats their workers is disgusting but its not my responsibility as a consumer to change that, if i need or want something and i see that the best deal for that thing is on amazon im going to buy it.
sorry for enslaving the working class under the capitalist machine
e: also thought it would be worth asking how many of you, who want to look like you care about the working class, use twitch prime, have subscribed to a streamer on twitch before, watched ads on twitch streams, eaten at a chic-fil-a who are known to be anti lgbt, used google phones, their search engine, or other products while their parent company alphabet has worked with china to restrict human rights, own products from nike or apple, who get their products from dirt cheap sweatshops overseas, etc etc.

ethical consumption is impossible
even if YOU make sure to buy everything from perfectly ethically sourced local whatever, the people you buy it from probably have to use something that comes from unethical large corporations in the production of their product, IE "ethical" technology vendors that buy their batteries, then the batteries use lithium that was mined by north african slaves. Or palm oil in your ethical products that was gathered unethically, or even just the workers at the business using their pay (which comes from your purchases) to buy food from unethical factory farms and so on.
in the end, under the current system, your money will always support something that runs against your values, it's unavoidable.
that being said, don't let perfect get in the way of better. if you have two options available to you and one seems more ethical there's no reason not to choose it.

In my opinion,

for one, the gotcha doesnt really apply in a thread where you have people who are trying to find deals/save money being yelled at by virtue signalers. the main point of my post is criticizing the people who are upset/shitting on people who are just trying to save money. Its perfectly fine to boycott if you personally dont want to feel like youre supporting amazon, but dont try to play the holier than thou argument and come into a thread about deals and shitposting all over it. i only brought up the contradictions because people in here are acting like buying shit on sale is evil, and not buying shit on sale while loudly proclaiming that the company is evil makes them champions of the working class.
(also i know u just made fun of it but i still think its hilarious how some of the ppl in here have amazon prime but dont wanna participate in prime day sales LMFAO)
