my pc has done this thing from time to time for the past year or so, but usually I can tell right after turning it on since discord automatically opens and the text will be all fucked up. after restarting its usually fixed itself, however tonight during scrims it started doing this in game which it never has before. everything was fine after turning pc on at first, but after tabbing out of tf2 it started acting up like this, is my pc dying?

it looks like your graphics card is probably dying sorry. do what the guy below me said to be sure but in my experience artifacts like this mean its probably toasted

If you do a fresh windows install on a spare drive and can reproduce it there, probably. If it can't be reproduced there, probably not. If that's too much hassle, at least try a full clean reinstall of gpu drivers. There are also tools you can download that can perform an integrity test of your system ram or gpu's vram.

big sad. I have no money to buy a new gpu/pc. will have to try these tests when I've got some free time. hoping it doesn't completely die during this season :(

had a similar thing happen to me a few years ago, although more isolated. my gpu wasnt seated properly +/ the cables were not fully inserted. (had moved it a lot, probably rattling from the car)

I had a similar issue years ago occurring in other games and yeah it was the GPU. I tried everything on a software level but it was basically fried, nothing I could do about it anymore

you could look into getting it repaired, either third party or check in with your manufacturer. if you're lucky it might just be that some easily replacable component is dying, and not the actual GPU core itself
