Steam is flooded with stolen work. I'd wager over half of the content is not posted by the original artist.
I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help clean up the Artwork feature a little by reporting the following users and/or stolen work.

This dude's entire gallery is stolen, evidenced by the inconsistent styles and technique. Could probably just use the report function on his profile and say that, as opposed to individually reporting pieces.

Only one piece (Windrunner) uploaded from a set of four. The original artist is Artgerm on DeviantART.

Unless money is changing hands this seems like too much hassle for too little gain. People are just uploading a bunch of pictures they like, not sure what you even want out of this.

When you upload art to the game hubs, there is a checkbox that says, "I certify that I created this artwork."
When people upload work that is not their own it is copyright infringement. Many of the original artists are not employed by any company as an artist, and work from home. When people post their art without permission or credit, that's revenue lost.
I don't think anyone should want anything from doing what's right. Sorry if copying and pasting the information I put up is too much work for you.

Renhet"I certify that I created this artwork."
If that is how it works even though on the first link on Steam the guy linked the original image, he probably did it without the owner's consent therefore yes copyright infringement is there.
As an artist I would be quite as cheesed as you must feel right now. Reported.

You're going full-throttle autism over people who probably don't know how to draw in the first place and are most likely not native english speakers. They probably both google image searched for "Dota 2 heroes" in their respective languages and uploaded artwork they thought was cool to feel like they were giving back.

They've uploaded other peoples artwork but saying it's their own therefore they aren't really giving back to that artist.

That doesn't mean the artwork should stay up. Ignorant theft is still theft.

I don't understand how this justifies copyright infringement. You're responsible for theft even if you don't speak english ( are you under the impression steam isn't translated into other languages?) and although on the internet it is extremely easy to lose track of ownership and stuff due to the nature of this new information age, this is pretty clear cut and since renhet did all the work of putting it together the least we can do to help is report. If this were a real life case it would be pretty cut and dry, and I doubt the report will have any negative consequences for the perpetrators much more drastic than them having to take down the artwork.

The closest example I can think of is recycling. If everybody said, "fuck it" we'd be a lot worse off than we are right now.
No one's forcing you to participate, though.

People agree to pages of terms of service without reading it all the time.
How about you get off your high horse about doing the 'right thing' reporting some guy who just posted some random pictures.
I was just trying to inject some realism, but I guess i'll just be on my sinful evil way.

I don't get this whole steam artwork thing. I can understand that people are unknowingly infringing copyrights.
I mean what is this supposed to be? Is it a part of your profile like a background picture? An addition to your steam library to represent your favorite games? An actual gallery for people to collect steam game-related artwork similar to the workshop? Just an alternative to screenshots to show your friend game related images without owning the game?
This whole new profile is so confusing and the gallery so weird and "out of place" that I can understand that many people probably treat it like youtube backgrounds (back when that was a thing). And let's be honest, 90% of us check "I have read the blabla and agree to blabla and certify that blabla" boxes without a second look.
This does not mean that we shouldn't report it though, since that doesn't harm anybody and will just alert people that the artwork section is reserved to your own works and that the original artists can be hurt from having their works republished on something as big as steam-

The thing is, that checkbox and the words next to it equal one short, easily understood sentence, whereas Terms of Service is a lot of shit most people don't or are unwilling to try to understand. That doesn't make one more right than the other, however.
Understanding fair use vs copyright infringement and adhering to the rules is a huge part of business in the real world. That is my realism injection.

#16 I notified Big Green Pepper of that upload, and it was clear that BGP had not given anyone permission to upload their work. Credit makes it loads better, but the lack of permission and ignoring the user responsibility to only upload original content is still there.

i know a ton of artists that dont care as long as they get credit, lots of people like it when their work is being spread and admired but w/e
just seems dorky reporting absolutely everything that isnt completely original by the uploader

That's making the assumption that the artist doesn't care, which you can't know unless you ask them. I would care if someone uploaded my work, and regardless of what any party thinks, the Artwork feature is for self-created content which is inarguable.

most prefer that their work is spread provided they get full credit.
protect your own work since that's you, dont bother with others'

You can do whatever you want to do, and so can I. What I want to do is spread awareness that people are not entitled to use any image they find on the internet in any manner they please, that art has value, and that the artist has value.

I never specified where I am trying to spread awareness. I posted here for help in getting stolen work taken down. If it bothers you, then don't participate. What is the issue.

RenhetWhen people post their art without permission or credit, that's revenue lost.
what revenue, it's fan art from deviantart posted on a source that gives no monetary compensation anyways I have no idea why you're going on a holy crusade about this. I uploaded a gif so I could have a dumb picture on my profile and regardless of the fact that I did not create it, the person who did wouldn't have seen a dime had I not.
I guess it's okay to care about people claiming work as their own but saying that the creator is being financially hurt in some way by it is just wrong in this example.
