Remember From Pyro With Love? I do https://web.archive.org/web/20161011210634/http://www.frompyrowithlove.com/
Hasn't something similar been done yet for Heavy? It has become clear from that day how the only way to get updates now is to pester Valve with organized ideas endorsed by renowned pro players. I doubt that without "From Pyro With Love" there would have been Jungle Inferno.
Maybe, if we gather feedback on how Heavy should work and not let go of the game, Valve will eventually have to listen to us.
I'll start with a popular one I already heard:
Heavy should have a fourth weapon slot for lunchbox items (sandvich, etc), as it would allow to not sacrifice secondary weapons; Heavy eating is also a key part of Heavy's character design since 2008.

valve team didn't even fix/balance most of the issues listed in frompyrowithlove. Things like viewmodel flames got even worse compared to old particles. Airblast had some bugs removed and we got just as many new bugs with it back.
They probably looked at this at some point, but they didn't care enough to allocate resources into it and just did their own thing
Also you assume a heavy update is actually planned but Valve said long ago only 1 class would be updated. Any rumor of a heavy update ever since has been made up by community members
When an update was actively being worked on they didn't care about the most experienced pyro players at the time. What makes you think they'll care now about a class they have no plans on updating?
Don't get me wrong. Go for it. You already know how this will end though.

Difference between the 2 classes is pyro was really inherently flawed whereas I think stock heavy is a very well balanced class. If anything I'd probably be taking away unlocks or reducing their usefulness for a class like him lol, and the casual player base would hate that (which is fair enough). Sad reality is stock heavy doesn't need new toys for the health of the game and if u give a class with such high health and dmg output new unlocks (especially unlocks that make him more mobile or even more tanky, as most of his unlocks that exist to this point do) ur damaging the game.

Valve isn't listening to the community anymore, it would be like talking to a brick wall

Well actually https://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=22675
But! Okay, both of them might get new Class Updates at some point. In fact, it's highly likely they both will.
But! Only one of them will get it first. Click here to find out how to make your vote count in the biggest election of the year, the epic showdown of The Maestro of Maim versus the The Thrower of Flame! Heavy versus Pyro!
The phrasing in the update page was more likely along the lines of "only one class will be the focus of the next update", not that they would not produce an Heavy update.

I was talking to melon (one of the contributors) recently and we basically both agreed that it was kind of sad that valve acknowledged the documents existence while not doing that much to fix the issues that were actually mentioned lol. Additionally some of the changes were arguably completely opposite of the spirit of the message (concerns about combo potential and skill ceiling of the class).
Obviously biased but I'm fairly confident that a good chunk of the more well known, older pyro mains would rather have old pyro back at this point so just be careful of what you wish for...
