After conquering 5 Grammy awards, television, film and other video games such as Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009) for the Nintendo DS and Wii, the trio of CGI high-pitched rodents are now expanding into competitive TF2. Re-branded as Alvin and the Britmunks to represent their roster more accurately, they are ready to expand their underdog story into this new medium.
The front man of this team is alv, who like many others before him, is a very talented Finnish scout. He has been making waves in the lower divisions and in pick-up games for a while now, and will be eager to showcase the hitscan proficiency that seemingly comes with being from the land of a thousand lakes. He is joined by his fellow countryman Derpy Hooves (also known as ALX1), who previously played with team leader Samski on BOOMERS last season and has produced consistent reliable preformances so far: a trait that could come in handy in the often hectic matches of the lower half of Prem.
auto was also a member of that same Season 36 BOOMER squad that eventually finished 7th in Division 1. He is one of the more unproven members of this roster, but so far has done well in stepping up to the top level, impressing with silky smooth surfs and crisp crossbows. Also a less proven player, coyo does have a solid amount of lower divisions experience, most notably with Xypher with whom he achieved a 3rd place finish in D2 as well as an appearance in the top 16 at i65. He has been practicing non-stop in order to make the big jump, and so far hasn’t let down anyone.
Leading from the flank, Samski is a name that will ring a bell for veteran watchers, as he was a part of the unexpected roster that finished in 5th place during the 27th season of Premiership, already 10 seasons ago. His impressive performance during his debut season was topped off by a decent showing at i61 under the Ascent banner, but he never managed to find a team in the top echelon since. With plenty of Division 1 and 2 experience to keep him sharp (including a gold medal during s30 with Faint Gaming), he’ll be eager to make his return, albeit on Flank Scout instead of Roamer. Rounding off this roster is Matthes, who has the most Prem experience here, notably thanks to a stint on Faint Gaming that saw him finish in 4th both during Season 32 (his first Prem season) and at Copenhagen Games 2019. and he’ll be keen to use his knowledge as well as his pristine rockets to help out his new team.
Samski retraced for us the genesis of his team, as well as short and long-term goals :
I saw this guy on PugChamp called Alv dropping 30 bomb after 30 bomb whilst playing in Low. After finding out that he was Credu’s brother I knew I had to try and make a team with him. The only issue is that Alv needed a fellow anime lover on the team so I had to pick up auto. With the scout nerf inbound I knew I needed some soldiers who always went for directs so we picked up MGE nerds Matthes and coyo. Lastly with the thought of having too many brits on the team alv begged us to get another one of his countrymen so we grabbed ALX-1 (not calling him derpy hooves ever). The plan was always to use this season to improve and aim for a good result in prem in season 38 and I think playing in prem this season doesn’t change that. I think playoffs is too far off but I think 5th/6th spot is a reasonable goal with some hope we can cause an upset here and there.
coyo proclaimed his unwavering faith in an unknown but seemingly powerful deity :
I’d be nothing without catbowcar
