Make a big mistake and the striker might score.
Touch a striker in the box and he will dive.
You can never run where you want and have to guard some players who can do whatever they want.
strikers will be heroes, defenders not so much.
Imagine having to defend Sterling when you know he will dive as soon as you touch him. And then he keeps on getting rewarded with penalties. I would turn mental if I was on the pitch
Imo diving is way too OP if in one case you get a penalty, and the other outcome is the game continueing..
A dive should be a yellow. I've seen cards given for dives before but I'm not sure how you prove that it was a dive VS an accidental stumble/loss of footing
