was wondering this for years, like why isint this treated more harshly than it is? especially in pugs
i think being shy is one thing, that is understood to an extent but there are still people who just dont say a single word in some pugs though

ya like i never understood why people could just get away with saying like 2 sentences total in pugs and just be perfectly fine

usually after subjecting myself to indecency for 30 minutes i have to go silent for a few hours to try and recover the IQ points i just lost

i think it just depends on the pug runner and how strict they are with that kinda stuff, if you are playing a pug its common sense to communicate at least the bare minimum
but unfortunately some people just dont care ahaa

On the other hand when I play with reece I can't seem to find myself shutting the fuck up. Slightly depends on who you play with too methinks

Wow nerds are shy, who would've guessed......lemme chilll
but nah for pugs if the mumble/team environment is dead, I usually start cussing out mfs. This usually gets everyone in a more playful mood, and if mfs still arent talking then their ass is lame/weird or their attention is elsewhere

People like you, are the reason people don’t want to talk.

i tried out a medic one season in scrims, and the dude literally said hello and not another word the entire night
- Some players might not be friends with people in the pug, so they feel like they're playing with strangers.
- Some teammates are so chatty with calls and comms, that sometimes you find yourself saying very little because so much is already being said.
- Some people are just really bad at multi-tasking with attacking and talking at the same time.
- Some people just want to listen to music while they zone out, DM, and maybe listen to teammate calls.
- Sometimes you get a team who is so annoying to listen to, you want to locally mute half of them and just play by feel instead of talking to them.
Pugs are chaos 80% of the time and thrive more on DM than textbook coordination or playing-your-role. I get why some people just wanna zone out and play 6's like it's a pub.

The same people who don't talk also don't listen to comms. It's wild. Then they struggle to get on teams and don't know why.
the ultimate answer to this or any related question (people raging, people not trying, people not going out of their way to improve upon their weaknesses) is that tf2 is a tiny game and the player pool is small enough that you have to put up with a lot of shit just to cobble teams together
plus it's not like we have any infrastructure like coaching or ownership or sports psychologists to help with any of this shit, teams have to solve their own problems often with 6 relatively immature individuals failing to empathize with one another

if people dont talk i just listen to the voices in my head
people are just young too. I remember being 16 and not being able to critically think about my own play, or going emo bcus I went .3kd last pug so I rage readd to try and make myself feel better, when in reality all I needed to do was get OFF my computer. Most pugs I'm in where everyone's like a college student or working goes pretty smoothly. but ya my answer is a large demographic of the game is made of emotional teenagers (like I was lol)
The rattiest behaviour is that some friend groups don't speak if they're on the same team in a pug, but they're in discord/mumble with their friends, depending on which voice program they're run on. That should be an insta ban

im an idiot and im used to pressing my side mouse button for my push to talk when i aim by gripping my mouse with my thumb not on it, combined with the fact that im very quiet person in real life.
I'm a victim of doing this too but when I'm in a pug and 2 or 3 player who are teammates with each other or good friends are on the same team are over bearing the comms with inside jokes or making fun of whatever is happening most of the time I just go mute and let them do their thing. I just immediately get slightly annoyed
probably because words are shit and no one's figured out how to speak effectively in memes yet
its definitely a lot more fun for everyone, if everyones not being a piece of shit lol, i used to be super fucking toxic and never talk and have found myself enjoying pugs a lot more lately when comming because the game is more fun that way idk
I have extreme social anxiety and if i have my mic held down for too long i get scared that people can hear me hyperventilate a little bit
