Just checking to see if any artistic community member can rec a good laptop that will be used for drawing/reading/writing only, no gaming whatsoever - that I can take to the library. Anyone who draws I'd be interested to know which one you like

^ ipad is insane for that stuff, also really really good for notes if youre in school, but no touchscreen laptop ive seen can really compete
oh really? i was looking at the surfacebook and the samsung flex. do you think theyre worse?
everyone IRL i asked said they were worse than the ipad, but i just can't really understand how
its largely the OS and available apps, apple is just miles ahead on that still
ah but how is it better than windows? i know this windows vs mac question often sparks stupid shit, but can't i just download anything they have on mac on windows anyway
i mean for pc's yeah, but not the same for lots of apps. the ipad basically functions as a big, very complicated phone and less of a pc (which works well for it for stuff like art/notes/and integrated stuff, but sucks for games)
my budget is £500 and i'm gonna get it second hand
i was looking initially before this thread at the samsung flex 2 and the other one i could get is surface book 2
surface book was released in 2017 and seems to have all the specs i need, but maybe concerns about longevity of it and its got a good resolution
samsung flex has the qled screen but its only 1080p but was released this year
dont really need to bother about specs in terms of 3D work/video work because i will just use my computer for that - this is more of an on the go thing. all the power and shit i will have covered with my main work station, but this is for quick nd rough work
idk if im sold on this apple shit though i don't really get it and i think i can do everything the same on the windows + more

You can 100% do more on windows than an ipad, apple's phone os is absolute garbage. Their mac os is a lot better than the phone one but doesn't support touch screens so wouldn't be good for drawing. I'd recommend the samsung flex.
i got my laptop for 50 bucks off shopgoodwill lmfao shoutout to whoever made that thread about that site
think i've decided on splitting it like
350 for a laptop
350 for a wacom tablet/like thing - can get a cintiq - sounds better and i can use it with my pc
went to go see the surface stuff today and the specs were like too bad for something that expensive compared to this idea where i can use 3D software properly and shit iwth my pc
thank u everyone for ur help
