New cheat that makes players unkickable

Played in a casual game just a few minutes ago and ended up on the same team as a cheater with a Medic bot on him. When I tried to votekick him it kept saying "You cannot currently kick this player." in the pop-up window or something similar. The same thing happened when the others in the team tried to kick him.

You could vote against the Medic bot but even if the majority vote yes he still wouldn't get kicked somehow.

I'm just making an assumption that it's a cheat, I don't really know anything about cheats nor how this could be set up, but if anyone has a clue would be interesting to see how that works.

Here is the Steam acc of the cheater:

Honestly if Valve doesn't do something about this I feel like in-game casual could just be dead cause as soon as a cheater would join, you just wouldn't be able to kick them at all.

I did some digging and couldn't find anti-kick or any similar feature for the most common suspects but it looks like a few people at least already encountered unkickable players/bots so it's not entirely out of the question that it's some new feature they're testing.

It definitely is a cheat or an exploit. I remember in the past that if you use an URL or some special characters it wouldn't be possible for you to get kicked and/or your name on the kick list would appear all mangled up.

BTW, You can use the status command in the console to grab the cheaters/bot id and try to kick them using

callvote kick id

where id is the one your found in the status output

P.S. I think you should link profiles against their steam ids instead of using custom urls which the player can change, making the link invalid.

EDIT: Found some statements by cheat developers from 2019 stating that it's impossible to prevent getting kicked. Somewhat outdated I guess

This could potentially be a side effect of some changes they made to kicking a while ago. Like not being able to call a vote on the same player consecutively if it failed in the past or something like that.

i've defo seen some like that, or for some reason there's a "cooldown" to be able to votekick them for no apparent reason.

anecdotally i've also seen a large increase in non-bot cheaters trying not to be too obvious.

I think on official servers, you get kick immunity for some time if you survive a few vote kicks. So they either got that through a server or figured out how to fake it.

I played against the same guy a few weeks ago and everyone on their team had the same issue, presumably it's being faked somehow. At least regular bots don't seem to use it.

edit: For ~2 days after the Christmas update there was a wave of unkickable bots, but these seem(?) to have died down now.

If you join a casual match after it already started, you have to wait 5 minutes to kick anyone

I'm pretty sure this shows a different message similar to the one when you're on normal cooldown from having called a vote. Either way we had been on there much longer than 5 mins with the same people trying and being unable to start a votekick.
