I've asked some people around, and have heard there aren't too many popular pug discords for nc/am/im players - other than tf2cc
I might re-visit the currently dead NA side of rahmixes to accomode for those players - and ofcourse for any divs too
What would you want in to see in those pugs?
Also this thread can act as feedback discussion on the current EU and Asia pugs - I'll make a proper google feedback form soon

whats with europeans and segregation
mintyxdwhats with europeans and segregation
Basically euros don't like the overtly chatty nature of americans - I think wanduum put it perfectly on a young sanity post before. Also high ping players can be unfun to play with/against, especially low div high ping players offclassing
But, just as EU and Asia players have segregated, I'm sure that EU and NA will follow too
People who are toxic/cringe in vc will ofc be dealt with, regardless of where they're from - and this is what I'm starting to double down on, returning from my break

I run a closed PUG group that has some outliers but targets the NC/AM/IM demographic. Based on my experience running and player feedback, I think some qualities of a good PUG server are:
- Gatekeeping: I decide who gets in, and I do my best to make sure that new additions aren't bigoted in or out of the server
- Heavy moderation: I talk to people privately if they behave poorly, (snide remarks, bullying noobs, malding, etc) and remove if there's no attempt to improve. Bigotry is addressed publicly to assure players that it isn't tolerated and will be dealt with appropriately (doubles as a teachable moment; personal growth > punishment if possible)
- Emphasis on sportsmanship, patience + teaching with newer players, and encouragement/runner assistance with drafting even teams
I think my time and energy for this kind of moderation is higher than most, so I don't necessarily expect it from other PUG servers, but the result is a chill server with a community that cares about itself and fosters friendships. It's really rewarding when more casual players demonstrably improve in 6v6 through the group or make connections and join teams, too.
tl;dr I like when I don't have to worry about someone running permajumper, screaming on mic, being exhaustingly passive aggressive, or saying slurs.

RendoasGatekeeping: I decide who gets in
beyond avoiding alting and keeping out people who associate with bad actors, this is a really bad practice, better to just ban bad actors imo and have an open door policy.

Disagree. It's really easy to check Steam profiles for questionable content, takes like a minute or two, and often saves me even letting in a weirdo to begin with.

It's time to revive the NA side of rahmix - more focused on NC/AM/IM, since there aren't too many popular options for them.
We will of course accommodate for all divs.
The rahbot in #get-yo-div-here should now work to give your correct rgl div
We also have a new #na-servers channel where you can host Chicago (chi), Kansas (ks) and LA (la) servers.
E.g. Type
;getserver process chi
to get a chicago process server - feel free to use them in scrims too!
Segregation will always be there if you don't care about it, just as there is between EU and Asia players which has has worked out fine. Let's try to get some pugs on tonight!
Also a reminder that the Auto-ready command
!ar 30m
makes sure you automatically readied up for the ENTIRE DURATION - including multiple pug aborts :)
