Perhaps a better thread title would get you further? Do you not have sounds enabled on irc? There's usually an alert for those messages.

personally I use irc over SSH so sounds aren't a possibility for me

There is a couple things that are confusing about the way you worded this sentence. First, when you say 'added up', do you mean added to the channel or to an actual pug? If the bot is kicking you for being inactive in the channel, then it's a bug. But if they bot is kicking you after being AFK for 10 minutes, then that's exactly what it should do. It would be insane to allow people 5-10 to come back from AFK for a pug to start.

Maybe you should check the channel periodically? Nobody wants to wait 5-10 minutes for an AFK to come back for a pug.

Cinq told me the buffer was 1 minute and after talking to him yesterday (on your behalf aim), he said he was down to make it the same as the buffer in pug na.

Aim is making a good point and it's a real issue. Creating a thread for this is valid as well since it's allowing us to have a public discussion about this; which is good. Like VickM said, the buffer is set to 60 seconds, me and him had a discussion about that yesterday and I agreed that it was something I wanted to tweak.
I have other ideas regarding how to improve this whole part of the PUG system but I will probably focus on other issues first that I consider more important. For now I will probably just change the away time.
